I always used Lucas Red and Tacky on my Branson 2515H and never had problems year around, here in Maine that could be well below zero up to 100 above depending on the time of year. I now have a larger McCormick cab tractor and will likely keep using the same grease. I have always used the old school mechanical grease gun but maybe I’ll ask for one of these fancy ones for Christmas
@TheRustyGarageandHomestead2 ай бұрын
The red n tacky I've always had great luck with. The electronic ones are really nice to use. Mechanicals are nice to have around sometimes to though. They can usually pump more pressure than the electrics. How are you liking your McCormick?
@danlauze52752 ай бұрын
@ so far so good, it is the X1.37 which is essentially a Branson branded for McCormick so it has the beloved Kukje engine. I went from the large frame 25hp hydro open station to a 37hp gear drive cab tractor that is on a larger frame. I never realized how much power the hydro’s took to operate, what a big difference with the shuttle shift, I can climb all my hills in mid range where before I had to creep in low range and use the front wheel assist. I live in Maine so I’m pretty excited to try this cab out in a snow storm!!
@TheRustyGarageandHomestead2 ай бұрын
@danlauze5275 that's awesome. Yes the hydrostatic do use alot of power. I'm glad to have it i have other larger gear drive tractors for the bigger tasks

I believe the grease I use on the sidexside is synthetic. It's a light color. Winston gave me a few tubes, and he said it's good grease, and I trust his opinion. Nice gun. I like the shoulder strap and stant up options, and it seems to work very well. Do you have any grease zerks on the front axle universals?
@TheRustyGarageandHomestead2 ай бұрын
Hey Mr Kenny. Synthetic grease works great on those machines. I haven't noticed any on the ft axle yet. I need to do some more digging around.
@oakiewoodsman2 ай бұрын
I am yet to try the shoulder strap. I could definitely see it being useful

Looks like you been digging in mud man! So far it looks like the machine is doing great. Would be wonderful if you already were in the Makita format. The price tip are fantastic for sure!
@TheRustyGarageandHomestead2 ай бұрын
It has seen some mud recently. Im glad the dry dust was getting old. I think if a person had makita stuff this would be great. I was glad to hear it would use other batteries even though i dont own any makitas.

Used a dewalt grease for awhile and it was pretty good. I used to have an air powered one when I worked at the small engine shop, also worked well. I currently have the Milwaukee m12 one and it’s not bad, I already had some m12 batteries. Preach mike! I always clean my fittings off before I grease. How you like that locking tip? I normally use the red grease, Lucas or valvoline brand. I have been wondering what is the better grease for machines, my book just calls for lithium based. Seems like that grease gun did well! Great video mike! Keep on greasing!

Looks like a decent gun, time will tell! On small equipment like this im a 3 pump kinda guy. Just make sure to grease it every ~10 hours is all. I use any grease as long as it has the NLGI #2 rating.
@TheRustyGarageandHomestead2 ай бұрын
I agree with the grease rating. That matters. I should of mentioned it in the video. Like you mentioned. every 8-10 hours is key. Thanks for being here JT

I like to grease until you see it come out as well. I think I do it because it was hammered in my head at truck shops to do that so customers could see it and know it was done. Now it’s just habit lol

lol i understand that. Hard to convince someone you did something if they can't see it sometimes.

@ I got two pairs of jeans that I wear quite frequently and they have permanent stains and they look dirty when they're clean actually my farm stuff looks dirty when clean all over everything climbing over Pig fence tear your shirt on stuff anyways I didn't think it would stop you but now you can go out to dinner I should've worded it better. I have I have like a case of from work that's probably 20 years old to keep the gun and the tools in my car and we used to drive out to the mowers because everybody would throw their gun in my car, the back of my jeep get grease everywhere they didn't care
@faithfulfarmadventures2 ай бұрын
Looks like a good unit. I don’t care for the fact that there is nothing supporting the grease tube like on a dewalt or Milwaukee. Looks like a good drop would break it. But for the price would be hard to beat
@TheRustyGarageandHomestead2 ай бұрын
That is very possible. I haven't dropped my DeWalt yet, but I see what you're saying, my Dewalt does have a support down low on the tube. If they did have a support on it, they wouldn't be able to swap the handle around. but a support maybe a better feature.

@ morning , I didn't finish the video yet but will my daughter had an appointment then I need to take her to school , pick up some free straw and a shit load of Pumkins , oh my neighbor borrowed my aluminum car trailer to move the scissor lift around and he wanted to know if I wanted to trade for his deck over and some wood and I'm like hell yeah I wanted to deck over for a long time. I wish I bought one. I hate the fenders on my trailer, I've knocked them off twice now loading logs. I've had to turn down numerous buildings because I couldn't get it on the trailer. Steel and I can weld on that so I don't know if I'm losing now or what but I'm happy. I'm also happy about our future president.
