TYM Tractor - Welding Expansion Metal to the Front Brush Guard

We broke the front of our grill while using the grapple and moving debris, so we added a piece of expansion metal to the brush guard to protect on a go forward.

Here is a tip for you. I did as you did FIRST THING when I bought my tractor and made a grill guard out of some round perforated steel that was 1/8" thick. The only thing I did different is that I welded tabs onto my perf steel guard, that I made out of angle iron, and I BOLTED the guard onto the tractor's brush guard, instead of welding it. The NEXT thing I did was I got some used conveyor belting from a rock quarry. It is VERY THICK and made of reinforced rubber. I cut a strip 18" wide by 60" long (width of grapple) and used some U-bolts to attach the belting to the INSIDE of my grapple, near the top of the grapple's "back". I left the bottom loose so that I could remove any stuck limbs and twigs that would work their way behind this belting, which does happen at times. This works very well as extra insurance to keep those limbs from spearing my tractor's grill and radiator!!!

Just did a search and came across your video. Just busted the plastic grill on my 2022 TYM474 after 2 days of moving trees and brush 😡. Why the hell its plastic instead of metal is beyond me.

I did the same thing. Yeah-the plastic isn’t sturdy enough.

@@adayinthelifeofthegrimords148 Thanks for this video. I will be doing this with my grandson this week. Can you tell me what size welding wire did you use? Im not using gas just Flux Core wire, I already have 030 and .035 I'm guessing one of those would be good. Thank you.
