Enjoy a relaxing journey, from Sunderland to South Hylton, on the Tyne & Wear Metro ‘replacement bus’ number 901.
This journey took place on Sunday 16th February 2020
The orange double-decker bus, operated by local company Go North East was comfortable and very clean.
When the replacement bus is in operation, there will usually be at least one member of the Nexus Customer Services team at each station offering advice and guidance on the location of the bus stops.
Nexus, the Trading name of the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Executive run the Metro and have an online travel planner on their website, or they can be called for advice. There are help points at each station.
I have indicated each location of the bus stops for my direction of travel. For buses going in the opposite direction, the bus stops will be nearby.
TRAVEL TIP !
Buy a Day Saver for areas A+B+C and travel for a full day on all Metro trains as well as, of course, any bus replacement service.
This ticket is also valid on the North Shields - South Shields ferry as well as on the local rail service between Newcastle and Sunderland.
Current Adult Price (February 2020) is £5.30
This journey includes these stations :-
Sunderland
Park Lane (Interchange)
University
Millfield
Pallion
South Hylton
And finally ... Something for fans of simulator type gameS
While on this bus I got speaking to two local teenagers who seemed keen on buses. I spoke to one of them at length and indeed he certainly knows his facts and figures. He pointed out various types of buses during the trip and knew about routes and even about new buses on order. He was equally keen on trains and planes.
He has a KZbin channel too, with the name SimulatorHQ.
Maybe worth a look, if you are interested in simulation type games (buses, trains and planes)
