HMS St Albans is returning to sea after a four-year refit at His Majesty's Naval Base Plymouth.
The Type-23 frigate shines like new, thanks to the extensive work completed during the overhaul.
As the ship undergoes simulated sea exercises with seasoned sailors guiding the new recruits, it marks a crucial step towards full operational readiness.

My father served in the fleet air arm on carriers out in the Pacific during WW2. He didn't often talk about it, but he said enough to make me realise that you had to pull your weight and look after yourself and your mates. I wish these young men and women every success in their careers, but i fear for them....serving on under manned and undergunned ships..... that professional and hard edged Navy of my fathers day has long since gone. Mores the pity.

@@thetruthhurts7675 it’s a two tier system to the detriment of the “ Lower Deck” as many officers continue in service past 60 years of age and just take part time work after that. It’s time to level up the playing field and give the “ Lower Deck “ as good as terms of service as the officer Corps…

@@davidlawton7845 Wierdly way back in 1978 we were being taught by lots of ex chief petty officers, and ex petty officers in our course. These were all guys who had served 25 years and then transfered to the civil service as educators for the Royal navy. Every single one was an ex Artificer. Retention is about money, and nothing else. In fact there were 5 Cheif petty officers, and 6 Warrant officers that I know of, who left in my time, and their actual pensions were greater than their in service wages. Officers I am sorry to say never get that!!
