@@befree3634 I love my hair and I have type 4, but it is annoying to have to put it manipulate it a bit to get it to lay down if it's a certain style I'm going for. It has nothing to do with what white people taught us nor is it a supremacy idea. Unless you have type 4 hair, it's safe to say that you have no clue what you're talking about.

Girrrrllll!! Grim reminder of my senior high school days (1984) we used a good brush, water, a thick pomade(hair grease like Sulfur 8) a good "head tie" (gel for thick hard to tame hair) and sleek bun n kept it moving! We got press (straightening) or very mild kiddie relaxers to tame hair for for Prom and Graduation and never lost the thickness and health of our hair. Happy to see younger ladies taking such awesome care of your beautiful locs! My granddaughter howls at the water grease and head tie chronicles!

Look at that curl/wave pattern. Trust and BELIEVE there are some curl patterns that will NOT lay, not even with 4 jars of Ampro gel. I used to do hair and that laying with a hair piece was all the rage in the early 1970s (yes, her hairstyle is very retro). Some people came in to get that look with a puff. Those b b shots/kookaburrs/naps would NOT lay down. I remember this one chick. We tried everything...everyone in the shop was chipping in. Finally, we pressed her hair, then laid it..for the day. Sweat brought her back to her natural pattern. Gorgeous work..but it is not practical for girls with wavy or 4a hair to act like 4c will lay like that. If it lays like that..it probably is NOT 4c to begin with. This may be great for 4a and 4b though. But is it healthy?

I feel like this style is wayyy easier on dry hair....I do mine really easy and it comes out sleek. I have a back section and three front sections, . I spray the roots of the back back with water, add my moisturizer(eden bodyworks pudding),add jbco, then my shea butter mix. Then this is the KEY...get one of those $1,$2 shampoo brushes from the bss and brush your hair down. ponytail and repeat for the next section. I only run the shampoo brush through the roots but since the front sleeks all the way over I detangle fully through with the brush. I also use a bristle brush for the very top. I do a curved side part and I only have to add gel to those front sections. That brush really makes the hair smooth. I also like the eco black castor for slicking my hair bc it doesn't dry hard like the argan and it leaves my hair with a lot of shine.
