Would it be possible to be a j+ civilization without meeting aliens? Cause i think we are alone which when you think about it is better than not.

@Spencer Vance, I am surprised you think we are alone in this vast universe filled with trillions of Stellar Systems similar to ours! I mean there seems to be a general consensus amongst the scientific community that chances of extraterrestrial life are extremely high. And from what I know, you seem to be a scientific person yourself. So I am curious to hear your thoughts! And as for your initial question, sure a civilization could have a lot more information available to it, but it may never choose to expand outwards. That is what Sagan had in mind when he came up with this lettered scale!

Several things. A double filter (i think humanity is in the middle of said filter) and the vast distances of space. Not to mention if there were aliens in our universe we wouldnt be able to understand them. Like a bacteria understanding a human for example Also lets assume we do meet civs on the same level or greater...just means war for resources, politics. If there are no aliens we have no contentions...well except for the humans who want to do their own thing in their own section of space
