This song is absolutely amazing. The guitar riff, the drum tempo, the bass line, the lyrics.... Maybe one of my TON's top 10. Despite of any Vin and Sori's opinions about their songs, I'm really glad to see a lot of TON songs on their channel. It's not what happen on the others. Thank you very much for this. This band deserves more.

I noticed you guys always refer to the story in the lyrics as who Pete actually was. Most of my friends and family knew him, he was a funny, sarcastic, enjoyable asshole straight outa Brooklyn. He didn’t take most of his “romantic” songs seriously, they were satirical. He just wanted to get laid lol. But the music was still fucking sick and heavy

Actually if you read or listen to his interwiews you could tell that he was a pretty romantic person. Its tricky to say which one of Type o negative songs are satire and which are serious but its safe to assume that more serious and poetic sounding lyrics like anesthesia, all hallows even and love you to death are all pretty serious and dumb hilarious shit like wolf moon, kill all the white people, unsecesfully coping with the natural beauty of infidelity and i like goils are satire

He's not killing her. The first verse is about the context: it's basically the concept of a Hallows Eve. There's fire, there's smoke, there's rituals and fests everywhere. In the middle of that, there's the guy (could be a girl too) making a sacrifice, offering HIS OWN blood. As the song goes on, we realize that the person singing is very used to this particular ritual, because he does that same thing every year. His offerings are a way to bring her back for one more night, on all Hallows Eve.

The purpose of the green was because Peter Steele (RIP) worked for the parks department in NYC in the late 80s, early 90s. He loved that job, and the color suited what type of negative was going for as a theme in there beginnings. It suited them very well and the parks department used that type of green for there workers.

She seems quite taken by that song... mesmerized... aroused... Or maybe it's Peter Steele. Vin is right, TON do have a certain influence on women. Not just artistically, but sexually. Watch her during the video, she's almost... well, you know what I mean. I like TON musically, but as a man I don't get these special vibes. There must be something going on with the female psyche. They used to say Rasputin had that effect on women. And TON have an album with him on the cover, so there's a strange connection.

On a side note, you guys might not realize but Peter often shares lead singing duties with the guitar player Kenny. This song is a good example. Kenny sings the higher parts. Peter does sing higher in songs but often times the higher raspier parts are Kenny. Most people don’t realize that and think it is all Peter. Peter still wrote everything but Kenny sang some of it.

I have to add. His lyrics on this song are based upon the different perspectives of Halloween. From the pagan/druid versions of sacrifice appeasing the gods to ensure survival during the harsh winter to the Christian version of it being about the night that the Devil walks the earth. The change in season and the coming winter has always been a influence on ancient civilizations. Especially in northern climates like Europe where his heritage lays. He also compiled it with the loss of loves past as well as the loss, in death, of his family members. It's a multifaceted approach to the change in season and life itself. Just my take. 🤘😋

Peter Steele was a trash truck driver in Brooklyn. The trash trucks were that weird green color and he always loved it and tried to use it in the artwork and themes. He wrote Black No 1 in his trash truck sitting under the Brooklyn bridge in line at the Hamilton Transfer Station while he was waiting to empty his full truck. Peter was a mad genius. I got to meet him and the band a few times. He was always so nice and funny as hell. I am glad you guys did this song .

Not necessary on sexual context. I am a Man and I love Peter without any sexual context. IT is some kind od adoration, but not blind. He had beautiful voice and poet spirit which I simply adore because IT hits hard almost all of my feelings. Nothing more... Nothing less. His voice makes me more maskuline potential, I am not hot at him, I am more hot myself with his voice because it resembles me that I can be received similar by women. Because I have similar spirit to Peter. That's all of my love for him🙂. I can travestate his lyrics in Christian Woman: Peter steele looks like me😁 that's my mechanism

Both my husband and myself have been fans of Type O since around 1993. Their fan base is largely female, I suppose, but that's with any band that has attractive male band members. However, both of my sons (who are now adults) are avid fans of the band as well. We all went to see them in concert together in 2007. I think a lot of people miss the tongue in cheek attitude and humor in their songs. They laughed at themselves and at the world, in general. They had serious music as well, but this is not one of those songs. It's meant to be spooky fun...and he's not talking about killing and sacrificing a girl. He's sacrificing himself to bring her back to life. :)

Samhain, pronounced "sow-win", was a festival for welcoming in the harvest and the dark half of the year. It was also a time when the veil that seperates the physical world from the spiritual was thought to be particularly thin, potentially allowing you a glimpse in the realm of the gods or to be able to contact loved ones who had passed. In 609 CE Pope Boniface IV invented All Saints Day which was a day to honor christian saints and martyrs and was celebrated on May 13. In the mid eigth century Pope Gregory III moved it to November 1st to appropriate the festival as part of the church's recruitment campaign. They found it was fairly effective to recruit by letting people keep their traditions but reapropriate them to chirstian themes. The day was most commonly known as All Hallows Day. As such the day before became known as All Hallows Evening (which was over time shortened to Halloween), the evening before All Hallows Day and became a time to honor everyone else who had passed. It was said that if the dead got enough prayers they could be leave purgatory or even hell and go to heaven. Oh and Samhain does in fact translate to "Summers End"

I think you missed this one big time. This entire album as a whole is about depression and death. This is the last song on the original album. I've always understood this as Pete dragged his girl down with him (metaphorically speaking) and its the only one he feels bad about and wants to reverse. The hallows eve part is tongue and cheek making fun of goth chicks. You gotta understand, the songs on this album were very seldom performed live due to the emotions they re-evoked in Peter.

There's an interview where Peter explains why everything is black and green on the band colors. The reason is, obviously, a joke. He says that the green is there to show the people that there's nothing obvious to expect from Type O Negative. In his words, being goth and with all that vampiresque stuff, red would be main choice, but they decided to go in a different direction. Besides that, there's the fact that Peter liked the green color, and speaking specifically about the visual branding of the band it was a sucessful decision. Even now, more than ten years after their split, Type O is known for the attitude, the music and the colors.
@alghul664 жыл бұрын
All is green in ton because of pete's fascination of vinland flag invented by him🙂: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinland_flag, vinland was called america's northcoast discovered by vikings. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinland. And of course, the most loved pete's color was.... Green😉 as somebody commented below

One of my favorite songs from the World Coming Down album. I'm not sure what the significance of all the green color is, it might be just cause it was someone's or more favorite color in the band. Thanks for this one guys! I literally laughed out loud at ya'lls different facial reactions during the song. Sorry to say, but Vin you absolutely were considered a "Goth" if you were in NYC wearing fingernail polish and black trench coats (I suspect, eyeliner also) in the 90's. If you enjoyed the guitar aspect of the song I recommend "Burnt Flowers Fallen" off of October Rust. Lastly, I live in Brooklyn. My profile pic was taken at Pete's favorite bar (I think he may have been there the night it was taken) and have dabbled in the NYC rock scene. I have had a few coworkers and friends of Pete theorize Type O's green color was initially due to being a Jets fan. Happy Halloween! \,,/
