Had some drinks with Peter and John in a small club in Reno Nevada. Type O version is grittier and if you listen to the early albums, most of the albums. That distorted sound is part of their sound. Both versions are great. Seen both bands live and both killed it. Check out Trivium's cover Sepultura Slave new world. Found your channel on accident, glad I did. Keep Rockin

The song was written as sarcasm. If you look up why he wrote it you will understand that he was tired of people wanting to imitate others including him. And Kel is right. TON is pure sex.

Kel got it spot on. A good cover is a faithful representation of the original song in the style of the band covering. I hadn't heard the original yet, so this really brought across the difference in approach between the two groups. I can be in the mood for the O Neg style, but I'm an appreciator of metal, so Trivium spoke to me more strongly today.

New subscriber here. I sorta stumbled onto you guys through the Type O vids. They're my all-time favorite band so just about everything related to them shows up in my KZbin recommendations. I think you've covered a lot of the ultimate classics by the band, but there are still a lot of good ones that people often overlook. Figured I'd make a list of some of my not as popular favorites! 1. Paranoid (Black Sabbath cover done in T.O.N. style from the album "Origin of the Feces") 2. Die With Me (Great track on "Love You to Death" but every track on that album is great!) 3. All Hallow's Eve (My favorite on World Coming Down) 4. Todd's Ship Gods (This is on "Life is Killing Me." Great backstory on this song. It's about Peter's dad.) 5. Hail and Farewell to Britain (From their final album "Dead Again." This record sort of gets overlooked by the other stuff in their catalog. It's definitely different than most of their records but still great!"

No disrespect to Trivium and their fans but they sound generic in comparison to Type O. In TON, the instruments have a unique sound. I’ve seen TON live and unless you’ve seen them live, you’ll never know how truly nasty Pete’s bass sounds. “I don’t wanna be me” isn’t in my top 5 Type O songs but still... Trivium can’t compete with Type O.

There's nobody that can play a Peter Steele Written song with Type O Negative, better than Type O Negative. There was only one Peter Still In Type O Negative no one may try to duplicate, as well as fail trying to imitate. Long story short it's the one band on the planet, that no one should try to duplicate. Because unless it's got Kenny's guitar, Josh Silver's keyboards with backup vocals, and of course the man himself rest in peace Peter Steele on vocals... Can't be done! even though Trivium is awesome, but that's doing Trivium songs. But my boys in Trivium, appreciate the memorial and dedication song inversion of I don't want to be me

Both versions are good but I'm going with Type O' of course...you know, favoritism 😆 It's funny that you mention the whole "80's ratpack" feel of the song because with Peter Steele's sarcastic sense of humor, that's most likely what he was shooting for. One of the most prolific, notorious, goth bands making a "happy, poppy"sounding song. Peter Steele had a unique musical mind in my opinion. One thing for sure, you'll never confuse them with any other group.😎🤘 I have a cover you should do a side-by-side of. #painintheask Animal Magnetism by Scorpions vs Animal Magnetism by Testament. Scorpions version is sexy/seductive but I think Testament nailed down the Animal part of it lol. Just one hell of a grinder. You guys rock as always Keep up the good work!

Is Type O Negative. that's just fucking ridiculous to say that, because it's naughty Type O Negative song unless Type O Negative singing it and play it. it's just another band or like at a club a cover band.
