Probably too complicated, but you should do an animation where he takes the entire gun/the side of the gun apart with a screwdriver, just to refill it.

Here is a idea for something make a bullpup pistol imagine a m9 (dosn't have to be a m9) with the grip and trigger under the front of the gun with the mag still in the back. Or a pistol using a p90 like mag. This is all up to you how or what you do. It's just a challenge to make you think.
