Change a Coil Pack on a 1.2 Fiat 500 or Ford Ka. Easy job including plug leads.

Great Fiat 500 guide today.on UK Car channel today, thanks for all your advise on MES over the last year.... I'm about replace later 2018 rear seats in a 2010, trusting be ok with the fitments ( A Dog got to it )

A quick twist on plug caps usually loosens if stubborn to come off. The metal spacers in coil are to prevent breakage of plastic coil if bolts are over tightened - bolt tightens up against spacer instead of crushing plastic housing 👍

I think my coil pack has gone….watching you videos for the first time I’d say that ‘more haste less speed’ is the a phrase that springs to mind. Maybe, as it’s such as easy job you should have test done the job first before you go online.

The funny thing is the Fiat uses a Champion coilpack, and the Ford uses a Beru coilpack. And i do know that Beru is a top quality brand. And i do know that the oem spark plugs for these engines are Ngk, but the Beru Ultra copper plugs works a lot lott better on these engines, it becomes much more smooth and peppy.

Porsche/Mercedes uses Beru as Oem. Beru is a pro master when it comes to ignition parts. A lot of times they also tend to cure misfires when other plugs dont.

Sorry I don’t recall that at all. Unless you are referring to the grey Abarth. On that I lubricated at the gearbox end by spraying up into the sheathing around the cable. It helped but it really needed the selector cables replacing.

Hi @love500 i got the same problem whith the same fiat 500 1.2 i clear the problem just like you using Multiecuscan . If you still got your older coilpack and the ht cable can you tell me please the value in ohms you got : I think the same before changing any part ,better to test. I found this video because i got the same issue misfire cylinder 1. I check the ht cable and got this value 1=237 Ohms 2=215 ohms 3 208 ohms 4= 238 Ohms.I check the coil pack and found 1= 0.8 ohms 2=0.83 3=0.85 ohms 4= 0.83 ohms. BUT i dont know the original value ?IF someone can compare it will help a lot of people and I..thx

My daughters 500 has a hesitation at low revs, mostly noticeable when pulling away, meaning I have to rev past it to get away without stalling, plugs and leads done and no fault shown, but it ain’t right. Cool pack? We had a Golf which did the same and it was a “feature” widely reported with no fix beyond a remap. Is this common with 500s? Could it be anything else? Help gratefully received.

Most likely the coil pack I would have thought but could be fuel I suppose. It’s one of those things that is a process of elimination really. I would get yourself a used one on eBay and give it a try. It’s certainly not a 500 thing.

@@DudeNukem91 the second hand ones often come with the plug leads included. It’s always possible a plug lead can be damaged so changing the whole lot makes sense.

Inserts and fasteners are there for a reason. Cannot comment on other bodge it merchants when you do things very similar. With the number of 500's you do, it would be good practice to have those minor accessories to do the little jobs correctly.

Oh I’ve a heavy miss. Miss fire No eml. Though. Over 2 hours. Odd. Bought the sparks. Heard odd one suffer Ecus. Pandas definately upset ECUs. Stopped my love Pandas too many went electrical specialist. Both last two suspect ecu intermittent - May do coil same time this 500

@@Love500 i think i have similar problem, it's not a properly misfire, but engine work roughly even in idle..seems like spark plug are working in uneven manner..obviosly i have new spark plug..i will update you on my problem 👌🏻

@@Love500 oh, i forgot to tell you, my spark advance moving really bad at idle, by 2 degrees to 15..up and down like: 2-10-3-12-8-5 etc..i am praying that the ecu is not gone.🙏🏻

I would of got the multimeter out and checked the HT leads for resistence, could just be a lead, cost nothing to check.
