I'm a super jumbo girl but maybe I'm just used to it from childhood. My issue is color. I have salt and pepper colored hair. I love colors but don't like to dye my hair anymore, so I have learned to dye synthetic hair with alcohol based dye or buy random colors to mix into 1b,2,4,grey, & white for more variety and less people with matching color choices. I have shaved sides so while I have shoulder to back length strands, I don't need more than like 4 packs depending on the style I'm going for. Thanks for this informative video ❤

Omg thank you for this video. I already don't know how to buy hair for myself, or do my own braids. I also don't know how to do box braids or French, on my kids hair with added hair, this just helped a lot. Along with your other video on the type of braids to use for what type of hair for box braids was on point for beginners like me. 🥰

30 years ago there were only 2 types of braiding hair. 1 the jumbo hair (cheap in both quality and price) and 2 super hair. I was just a little girl but knew how to braid. That's why everyone time I see the word JUMBO on a hair pack, I just know it's a cheap quality can't help it.

Do you ever use human hair for braiding? And what are the disadvantages of the cheapest kanekalon hair? They're usually my go-to for color variety and price (2.50-3$)
@VandyVanity4 жыл бұрын
I will use it at the clients request. Human hair can be really pricey and also comes in limited colors so you can imagine the the costs and time that goes into making sure it stays secure and matches properly. That's why synthetic hair is the go to since protective styles are temporary. The types of synthetic hair available has come along way from the jumbo braid we were limited to back in the day. The best bang for you buck will always be in my opinion Xpressions.

Thank you. I'm teaching myself to do my daughter's hair who developed an interest in braids when she became a teen. I've done it a few times now. One thing I haven't figured out, if she wants 20" braids, do I buy 40" hair in order to avoid feeding in? Or if it says 20, does that mean that the length the braid will be?
@brightmarissa57402 жыл бұрын
Hello! Thank you so much for these. I've been braiding for years and mostly just my own hair. This year I decided to make it a business and I'm still having a tough time letting my clients know how many bundles to buy. Doing my own hair I never worried about tucking so 5-6 bags did me well however I want to tuck for my clients and buy the correct amount of bags. I have 2 questions: 1. Should I be booking a consultation appointment, asking my clients certain questions, requiring a picture of their hair? And 2nd: once you're cutting the 1 bundle of 84" hair into 4's, does that create 1 bundle of 14" hair or would it classify as 2 bundles of 14" hair orrrrrr would they be 4 equal bundles of 14" hair. If I'm doing a full head, mid-back length with the 84" do I need the 8-10 packs or could I just grab 4 packs of the 84" hair. I tried to be as clear as I could be 🙏

What hair should I use just for a ponytail extensions… Is there any of it that doesn’t have the kinky looking texture… my hair doesn’t have that texture … I’m looking for 1 strand of hair to wrap a elastic band around it and make it into a ponytail please help me God Bless
@tinamite2 жыл бұрын
Am I getting something wrong or don't you have to stretch the hair anyways, as soon as you cut it? So the pre-stretched is mainly helpful if you keep the length, right?

Hi I've got a question. If I have 2 packs of expressions braiding hair and cut and feathered them into 3 equal parts. So that with the second pack of hair I have altogether would make 6 equal parts of 17 to 18 inches of hair. Would that be theoretically speaking be enough hair to make medium sized box braids for the whole head? Currently living during lockdown where Im at and non essential businesses are closed meaning hair salons where I buy my hair from. And only have 2 packs of expressions hair on me Thank you :))

How do you know how much braiding hair to use so that all of your braids are the same size 😩
@fabiolaford56214 жыл бұрын
I just figured this out so I am happy to share. Take the pack and keep separating it in half until it is the thickness you want. Do that with the whole pack and have your hair separated and ready before you start braiding. Hope that was clear and helpful.
@eightfigs35084 жыл бұрын
-12-14 packs for braids-nah, Sis. 👎 -On the other hand, I find it more difficult to remove the braids with which pre stretched hair was used. -No matter what braiding hair is used, I always rinse with apple cider vinegar. It protects me from a fungus, etc. and the stylist from a lawsuit.😉 -Individual braids, senegalese, etc. at the normal length should only use no more than 4 packs(cut in half at the rubber band). #heavybraids equal #neckproblems
@rage1934 жыл бұрын
What if u don't want a feathered look? Can I use the hair without stretching?
@dinasexyful4 жыл бұрын
Adeola u could but your braid could unravel more easily if u don’t use a rubber band or tie it at the end. And you wouldn’t really be able to braid the braid all the way down because it would be too blunt..

Bijoux is not kanekelon. It's yaki. Great for box braids bc what you pull is what you get, not as flimsy as that frizzy kanekelon
