I just want to say how thankful I am for this video. My partner has trouble taking care of their natural hair because of mental health issues, but having braids makes them feel so much better about themselves and the way they look. I’m white, so I’ve never done braids like these before, and this video has been immensely helpful for me to be able to help the person I love most see themselves as beautiful as I do. It took a lot of practice and I’m still nowhere near perfect, but I’m getting better every time. It makes my partner feel better about themselves, and it makes me feel better because I’m able to help them with something, even if it’s relatively small. Thank you.

This is a great video for beginners and those who can get their braids to stay after one of these methods. Decades experience of braiding here and I just want to add one more way in case it might help someone if they still need another method. I've learned (self taught) the best way FOR ME is to (1) braid the person's natural hair to the end then (2) split the braiding hair in half (in a two-thirds/one-third ratio) and (3) crochet the two-thirds in at the braid's root and pull one side through (will look like a T) and even the braiding hair to cover the natural braid and then (4) add the one-third directly on top and at base (no crochet and another T) (5) carefully hold the two-thirds braiding hair over the natural braid (to keep it covered and protected) and then (6) braid to the end. Pros__This ensures the braids won't come out, creates less chance of frizz coming through the braid, and person's hair is protected and style will last. Cons__more time consuming and not as easy to quickly rebraid if needed. I hope this can add to the wonderful ways that have been provided in this video. ***EDIT*** Here is another way that I saw KZbinr Adanna do her box braids kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZm4qqaMh99_abc I'm looking for a video like the way I described and when I find it, I'll put the link.

This is the best video on braiding that I have seen. Why, because you are explaining what you are doing, the types of hair each technique is best for and you are doing it slowly. So many videos talk about what they are doing but they do it so fast that it is difficult to understand and it appears that every one of them is doing the same method. I learned so much and now I can speak intelligently to the stylist when I get my very fine and straight hair braided. Thank you for creating this video.
