Some of you might need to know a bit more and that is that the coulds may be a mix of those four categories such as nimbostratus, cumulonimbus, stratocumulus, cirrocumulus and cirrostratus. It is very useful to know the differences here, they are quite literally a combination of those categories, for example a cirrocumulus cloud is a cumulus form but cirrus height and structure.

The highest clouds in the atmosphere are cirrocumulus, cirrus, and cirrostratus. Cumulonimbus clouds can also grow to be very high. Mid-level clouds include altocumulus and altostratus. The lowest clouds in the atmosphere are stratus, cumulus, and stratocumulus.

I wish that you could have gone into little more details such as describing Cumulonimbus, Altostratus, cumulostratus also. Especially the cumulonimbus is worth knowing as it is very huge, reaching upto 60 000 feet height, usually capped by a cirrus clouds. It is a storehouse of vast energy, also has very strong winds, thunder and lightning in it. This is the cloud that the pilots most fear!
