my two favorites are when you only sleep for like 45 minutes but feel the most rested you ever have in your life and are just left wondering what you did right during those 45 minutes that you apparently are failing to do every night for 8 hours. And then the opposite where you sleep for 45 minutes but wake up unable to remember your own name or where you are and need like 10 minutes to figure out what's going on.

From my experience, (I'm no doctor), I find that if you can pull off a nap, get all the way down to REM sleep and back BEFORE you wake up, you will feel refreshed. However if you wake up during REM sleep, (Rapid Eye Movement or "dreaming"), I can guarantee you will not function properly for the next few hours. It is the worst way to show up for your second shift of the day. (And yes, for some of you young people out there, there are people that work twice in one day, full time and part time).

a fact that helped me take better time crunch naps is that regardless of whether you're asleep or just laying down doing nothing you're regaining energy. You don't have to stress about actually falling asleep, just lay down in a comfortable position and relax, you'll feel better when it's time to get up. If you stress out about trying to actually sleep you won't feel rested at all.

Exactly, which is why I always have something playing when I'm trying to sleep in general. If you're stressing to fall asleep and try to make yourself fall asleep 99% chance you'll fail and it will take longer to sleep/nap it always happens. If this happens usually I'll just get up and do something for like 10 minutes then try again, it usually does the trick as my body readjusts to the bed.

@@coryjohnson2486 I had the same problem. Whenever I took a nap after an exhausting day I would fall asleep so deeply (and long) that I couldn't sleep later when I went to bed. I was told that it's better to set a timer for 30 minutes max so you don't fall into deep sleep because this will prevent you to sleep later. So whenever I feel I'm dozing off I set my timer on the phone to prevent that happening.
