when an entity do not outsource its logistical activities, and perform all activities in house.

when an entity outsource its transportation activities only.
3pl
when an entity outsource its transportation, warehousing & distribution activities, in short entire package of logistics.
4pl
when an entity outsource its managerial activities as well along with package of logistical activities.

Yes in this video, entity is referring to manufacturer. But in macro level entity can be supplier, manufacturer, distributor, wholesaler, retailer.
