Paper joint means no gap. And if there isn't gap, no grouting will last long.

You can use cementitious grout with polymer admixture. One example - take ARDEX ENDURA "super grout" with AD1 admixture. Thank you. - Team OTF

what do you recommend for endless pattern tiles? go with 1mm and match the grout with the tile color so that it is barely visible? or don't use spacers at all so that the purpose of tile (looks wise) is achieved?

Most 'Endless' are plain solid color tiles, isn't it? But the requirement of spacer is not necessitated because of graphics; it is for other reasons. Design printed on the surface of tiles can't resolve those reasons. In nut shell, little gap between the tiles is the technically correct way. Agar hum Grout ka purpose samajhte hain aur chaahte hain ki humaari tiling achchi ho toh phir ye sub baat aati nahi hai. Aapko Jo Uchit lage, Kar sakte hain... tiles aapke, risk aapka. Thank you. - Team OTF
