As someone who lives in Leicester, where imperial came from, there is a statue of an imperial typewriter with three keys and symbols around it

Very good, I would have liked to know more about the Good Companion as it left me wondering if it to can have the carriage changed and others aspects of pioneering model.

A Good Companion video is planned. I have restored one this last year and learned a lot about its construction. What I've been working on is a very early one however, so there will likely be differences to the later ones as they developed it a good deal as time went on.

@@Retro-Type I thank you for your response and the update regarding your intentions and indeed it would be very difficult to address all aspects of every machine, there has to be a some input by the owner, I think knowing the principles or shall we say the mechanics of a range is a great starting point, like any piece of machinery, it starts with a blue print and develops from there well the idea comes first but you get my drift, I believe the imperial range of The Good Companion is a good patient or example, as the iterations model T 1,2,3,4,etc like a bicycle or a sewing machine will follow similar principles, usually when a great stride is made or radical change in the mechanics, the name changes on this type, excuse! Of machinery, unlike cars, where a name is it’s guarantee, say like the Fiesta, I maybe wrong on this but, I collect cameras and attempt to repair and that principle follows, but also bucks the change, I have just experienced this with a Pentax Spotmatic that have a mechanism that in one section, I know what causes the issue of failed shutter release, however I opened one last week and the mechanism was a complete change, also I haven’t found much literature on it, only others that have suffered the same issue with no solution, unlike the common iteration. I am looking today for a book or information diagrammatic on the Imperial , I have a few Corona that are very skeletal and easy to see the reaction when tracing what something does, my imperial looks like something is either out of alignment or broken, as the keys are sitting at an angle , where the right side is higher than the left at a steady incline, with all keys sitting at various heights slight differences, and the + * one being the only actioning slug when pressed. I’m sure it’s somewhere but I can’t find the serial number, I had thought it was behind the carriage, but it isn’t. Arret! I thank you again and look forward to your release of the video, any heads up will of course be greatly received and much appreciated. Regards David
