Incredible footage, James! I especially loved the shots driving along with that row of tall palm trees bending to the wind. This was clearly a significant hit, and good that it happened during daytime for higher quality video. Awesome job as always!

Thanks so much Jose! I knew you'd dig that shot and what makes it even cooler is that location was right at the threshold of the runway at KHH with the winds ripping right down the middle of it

On a typhoon day, especially with such strong winds, it’s really dangerous to film outside.
It proves it doesn’t have to be a category four a category, five hurricane typhoon or cyclone to be proven destructive, even in a category One hurricane can still have dangerous wins, because those window capable of flowing down trees, powerline they cannot power out, and it doesn’t have to be the wind. Is the the storm surges and flooding that causes the most damage in Storms but you still want to take cover, even if it’s a high in tropical storm or category one, because it will still be debris everywhere and trees falling, and that what kills people in Storms as well

Do I guess right that in Taiwan (unlike in Florida) they do NOT build wooden houses on stilts just a few meters from the sea?🤔
@taiwansivispacemparabellum95462 ай бұрын
We admire Floridians' display of courage, we like our true and tested concrete and rebar here in Taiwan XD
@MsDebbie06112 ай бұрын
We don't love to living by the beach, the coast of Taiwan is full of rocks not like Florida, and uncomfortable because of humidity, the weather here is completely different with America🙂
@anttikarttunen11262 ай бұрын
@@MsDebbie0611 I have read that it is quite humid (and hot) in Florida as well. In any case, it doesn't make sense to build one's home on a sandy beach in a hurricane zone, but apparently some people are slow to learn that, judging from the Hurricane Helene aftermath videos I have recently watched.
@HingYok2 ай бұрын
We generally prefer concrete and rebars over wood, probably because it's more sturdy and can withstand earthquakes and typhoons better. Even in ancient times, our ancestors used bricks and (believe it or not) glue made of sticky rice.

How strong was this at landfall?
@zannda-i2v2 ай бұрын
70 knots. Despite it being 70kts,kaohsiung hasn't had a hurricane force landfall since 1977. Gusts throughout the city ranged between 80 and 105 mph and damage was on par with merranti of 2016 although merranti only had it's outer eyewall hit the city
