Played 40k years ago and sold what I had due to lack of playerbase. But now I'm collecting AoS stuff via the Mortal Realms magazine. I only have 2 of these guys at the moment but will be getting 2 more as I want to give them a 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse paint scheme; following the same steps, but swapping out the colours

@@N3rds0me your welcome.. I'm thinking about going over my base coat (nighthaunt gloom) with contrast (basilicanum grey) then applying a dry brushing of nighthaunt gloom again.. What you think?

I am not really familiar with contrast paints but maybe if you dilute it more the contrast like a wash could work. Then maybe try and dry brush it with a light grey like celestra grey and then apply again nighthaunt gloom but also diluted like a wash, and keep an eye on it try to apply mainly where it is bright so in that way you can get a nice blending. And just finish with a edge highlight of bright grey or white. If you are not certain it is always best to try it on a mini that you are not really keen to or even on the sprue you can experiment. Once you are happy with it then you know how you want to add it to your miniatures.

@@N3rds0me OK.. Two horses so play around with both techniques. Contrasts are similar to washes but leave more behind with a nice transparency

Hello, yes I think it can work. As long as it just gives a slight tone of green to some of the areas it can do its job.

Ofcourse you can, if you wish to have that as the brightest part of the trails. In the tutorial the sybarite green is just an edge highlight to make the transition. If you want to use sybarite green for the trails, you might need to make the transition darker.

It is, howewer you will need to then paint the majority of the model with black and just leave the hollow spiritual from area white, if you want to follow the tutorial precisely.
