Thank you soooo much! I have been searching for 2 weeks trying to learn how to do this. Never knew what typography was, I was searching under word art which was not what I wanted. After days of searching I finally ran across what I was looking for...YOUR video! I am a self taught photoshop user...and have both photoshop and illustrator but only use illustrator to create vectors to digitize my own embroidery designs. I purchased an embroidered digitized keyfob pattern of a dog. Loved the design which had a text filled word name of the dog. I found out how to do it using your video. I'm still learning, but im on my way to perfecting it with a little more practice!! THANK YOU! I am a 65 year old Fine Arts major that never finished college but I love creating and doing arts and crafts. I purchased a self threading embroidery/sewing machine. My new and most favorite hobby is Embroidery which I had never done. Self taught in less than a year. I love what I do!!!!!! I am blind in one eye, disabled stroke victim and hope to one day own a commercial home embroidery machine. My new found hobby has become extra income for me. "I am hopping but I,m NOT stopping". You could easily use a mesh of 2x2, the 3x3 makes it much more tedious because you need to adjust way more points which dont raelly matter at all.

Great tutorial! Except mine took 6 hours and after it hit 4am I knew I couldn't do this anymore so I ended up deleting it :).

Why did you delete it? You *can* do this. Maybe you need some practice that's all. No one can reach the top without smaller steps. So Do it again. And from this time, don't delete them. Instead keep a separate folder for those images. Good Luck 👍

I got perhaps an easier and fastr method. Why not outline the car, than make a grid pattern over the car. Than use Pathfinder > Divide and delete the parts outside the shape of the car. Than use a word per small block and use Envelope Distort > Use with top object. That basically automates what you are doing manually

i just tested it and kind of works. Its really much faster. Than later you can adjust them a bit if needed. The main thing this is faster is that it takes the outline of the car because we divided this, therefor using warp it will automatically shape the text.
