Picked up this shoe two weeks ago and I LOVE them! They've quickly been my "Metaspeed Sky killers" as they ride identically to the Sky but they have MUCH better outsole coverage, especially in the heel area. Absolutely great shoes!

Just the review I have been waiting for. As a bigger and slower running, I am looking to pick up a pair of these. The More V4 also happens to be my favorite max-cushioned shoes and also using the Speed 3 for my speed workouts............ looking forward to run in them.

You're right on with this shoe. I only have one workout so far 2x2miles - get above LT HR for over 50%+ of the 2 reps. 1 mile warm/down. I'm 200 lbs. & 59 this month. It's a EP3 Pro midsole/feel with the EE's later aggressive rocker. The shoe felt very stable & bouncing. Good for all paces I ran, even the warmup. This could be the safe marathon racer Clydesdales are looking for. Love the landing pad with the later rocker - like AP3 & EE. Separately, for some reason I loving the Hoka Ciele X1, ever with an earlier rocker?.......Topic for another conversation. Great stuff Mike!!!!!

Have about 50 miles in these; agree it feels heavy for racing. And there are many better options for tempo, especially the UnderArmour Velociti Elite 2 (which is better in every respect for faster road training and also on the track.) But if you don’t mind (expensive) daily trainers, it has a smooth ride. This seems like a shoe for 200-pound plus runners. (Not so much me at 187.) I would send mine back but they are an athleisure option perhaps beyond equal! Way better-looking and feeling for walking around than On Running. So shall keep in an act of sheer vanity.

This one and training companion Valkyrie Speedworks is obviously modelled to compete with Endorphin Pro and Speed respectively. It is not a bad thing. Speedworks is actually available on their website for $170 now. I might skip Endorphin Speed 4 and try Speedworks instead, especially if the feeling is more like Speed 1/2 instead of 3/4. BTW, I like the heel rubber coverage in this shoe and its training companion Tyr Valkyrie Speedworks. Yes, it adds a bit more weight but it will be more durable for people like me. I land midfoot but then heel lands heavy with a lateral bias which is my typical wear pattern. These will be more durable for me than Endorphin Pro/Speed respectively.

Hi, TYR heels looks narrow. Is the heel width narrower than Saucony endorphin pro 3? I tried Saucony endorphin pro 3, heel felt stable but toe box was narrow for my feet. Wondering TYR toe box is wider than Saucony endorphin pro 3 and heel width is close to it. Thanks!

Cool name. With its swimming background maybe they'll appeal to triathletes? (But tri shoes tend to have barely-there uppers.) I think the price point needs to be more aggressive if they're trying to win over new fans. Otherwise why shouldn't I stick with brands I know? Boring colorway, but maybe I'll cop one when it inevitably goes on sale because nobody even knows Tyr makes carbon plated shoes. Top Tyr review as always.

I've always wondered, at what pace these race shoes would be best at? Fast as possible yeah, but like any good at 5k25min? I know that most race day shoes are for the fast folk, and we slowjoe´s can't use their full potential, but about what pace you would consider a race day plated shoe, and what pace would be just a waste of money? ATM I personally use Novablast 3TR, Trabuco max 2´s and Clifton 9´s

I understand your question as, When do race shoes no longer make sense? and that you are not asking a question about this shoe specifically. if I have misunderstood, please feel free to rephrase and ask again. . I firmly believe that there isn't a pace cutoff for when carbon plated shoes "would be just a waste of money". there is a point where a runner will want to prioritize comfort of a shoe over raw performance. and to be more precise, it's a bit of a sliding scale. for example, there are a lot of fast shoes that I would love for a 5k PB attempt, but it would be too harsh for a half marathon. and some of those half marathon shoes may be too harsh for the marathon distance. the shoes I want for a 20 minute race are generally quite different than I want for a 6 hour race. but it's gonna depend on each runner. but one way to think about it is to do your marathon training workouts or perhaps a half marathon race. if it feels like you could get more out of yourself with a shoe that were a bit more aggressive, it's worth considering and to bring it back to this video specifically, I've used language indicating that some race shoes are more accessible than others. This Tyr Valkyrie Elite Carbon and the Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 that were mentioned were described as shoes that I can easily recommend to a wider range of runners. This is the kind of language that want to keep an ear out for when considering your first carbon plated racer.

Have you tried the magic speed or magic speed 2, even on light jog(even walking ) you can feel the energy return, that light spring that pushes you forward on each step but with less energy. Compared to say adidas boston 11 or 12 you need a faster run to feel that energy return and to feel that soft/firm sole, slow jogging on boston 11 feels like soccer cleats, adidas adistar are prefect for slow jogs. @@kofuzi Thanks! And sorry, i’m not a native english speaker… I tried to find that if for example would i benefit from carbon plated shoe. My 5k pb while recovering from a dual slipped disk was 27:59, and i’m aiming for a 25min flat @Helsinki Running Day… So would i waste my money, or could i find plated shoes beneficial? Reason i ask is, my running shoe store seller once told me that plated shoes are not meant for slow runners… So that stuck in my mind, as what is considered a ”slow runner” that would just waste money on plated shoes 😅. I also realise there might not be a political answer, since i guess nobody likes to be told there ”slow”, even if not meaning any offence 😬

I’ll have to try those Magic Speeds and Endorphin Pro’s… Sadly our closest stores only carry the most popular shoes, but zero race day shoes, so i’ll have to go further away to try some on 🤭

​@@t1g3r8As a fellow Clydesdale (215lbs) who has run in Boston 11 and 12s, they're good for our size. The B12 definitely friendlier because it's softer, but I'd actually consider my B11s for 5k/10k racing because they're pretty responsive. It was about a year, maybe two after my beginner stage before I felt investing in supershoes was helpful. But they're definitely more fun!

it took me like four times looking at it to see what you're seeing. but I finally see it. this is peculiar. a quick google search suggests that the RY "valkryie" spelling on the shoe may be an acceptable even if less popular spelling. and I was thinking that maybe this is a nod to a possible Norse spelling, which would make sense for a company named after a Norse god. but then again, the more common YR "valkyrie" spelling is used by Tyr on the website for the listing of the product. 🤷🏻‍♂️
