My hair is pretty similar to yours and I also do silk press; it takes me about an hour but it doesn’t bothers me, I actually enjoy doing my hair. The only thing I’m trying to figure out is how to keep my hair from getting frizz so I can wear it down more often and not just in a pony tail without using any harsh products.

How do you keep your scalp from flaking while it's straightened?
@TyraMae3 жыл бұрын
I don’t do/use anything for flakes because I don’t really get them. Around the 2 week mark my scalp starts to get a lil dry so I wear just ponytails until I feel like washing it

What do you use to keep your hair grow thick and long
@TyraMae3 жыл бұрын
My hair is naturally thick and has always been on the longer side. I focus on length retention instead growth. In terms of the products, I use products from a bunch of different brands like MBIB, Texure ID, Pattern, Briogeo, Curlsmith, The Mane Choice, Kiss, design essentials the list goes on

Maybe your straightener isn't hot enough, or maybe switch to titanium plates instead of ceramic. You may also, simply, have a denser hair type

Wait so what’s different that makes a regular straightening session a “silk” press. Is it because the hair has conditioner in it ?. Or it was deep conditioned with a leave in applied ?. Also. Why do women wear a satin bonnet when they already have a satin pillow case ?
@TyraMae3 жыл бұрын
For me it all comes down to technique. When I used to straighten my hair I realized I wasn’t properly cleansing my hair so now I make sure to really take my time while I shampoo and not rushing the process. I use the same blow dryer but now I let it dry in twist beforehand. The steps you take before using the flat iron are the most important parts honestly. The products I use work better than the products I was using before. I don’t apply leave in because I found that I don’t need it. The temperature of the iron plays a role too. Ultimately my old straight hair had more texture and my current straight hair doesn’t which is why I call it a “silk press” you can see the difference around 19:26
@maamearaba10583 жыл бұрын
Yup I don’t understand the "silk press" thing either like what’s the difference
@TyraMae3 жыл бұрын
Also I tie a scarf and wear a bonnet just so my hair stays in place even though I have a satin pillow case
