I like the way these bigger Pterosaurs were shown in this season. The way they move and the sounds they make are so alien. They are not only skillful flyers but are able to walk with no problem, even *sprint* . It really captures the feeling you'd have when one of these flying Giraffes just lands in front of you

I'm pretty sure that these things would be the among the most dangerous animals for us humans because we have exactly the right size for a snack. A Tyrannosaurus wouldn't bother chasing us because we're way too small and agile in comparison.

I love how they are not mindless beasts , some people may say that its cowardly of T.rex to back off but theres no bravery or cowardice, just survival. This is a extremely cool scene, though in real life a Quetzalcoatlus would hang back and wait for the T.rex to eat its fill even with numbers on its side. A mature T.rex is 8-10tonnes and a really big one is 11tonnes. A mature Quetzalcoatlus is 440-550lbs. Sure the Quetzalcoatlus could look a Giraffe in the eye and its beck could be effective if it poked the Rex's eye, but its not a big game hunter. Quetzalcoatlus fed on small mammals lizards and mid sized dinosaurs. A T.rex would hunt the largest of herbivores like Edmontosaurus and Triceratops in the north. In the south (which would be this region) it would hunt Kritosaurus, Torosaurus, and young Alamosaurus. If the T.rex was a sub adult then yes two Quetzalcoatlus would stand a good chance of ganging up on a T.rex over a carcass.

idk man modern birds can be assholes to other animals probably cause they have a lot of confidence in their flying capabilities or maybe enough intelligence to try crazy things, add to that this guy having a greater reach and a closer size ratio with its competitor. I mean consider pelicans, swans and geese, plus other small but temperamental birds like magpies and ravens. Some vultures too can judge a situation and decide it can win a fight, most cases with things like cheetah or smaller wild dogs, less so with lions and hyena cause unlike the Quetzalcoatlus they have poor takeoff ability
@adamjacobs6644
@adamjacobs6644 Жыл бұрын
@@kennethsatria6607 Now that is interesting! Yes, the Quetzalcoatlus would be able to peak at a T.rex but would have a death wish doing so at least from the ground. They might be able to fly over and peak but a Rex would be able to hold its own. Birds are indeed quite intelligent and agile giving them the ability to do crazy things. This is perhaps the best reply to my comment regarding this matter. Nicely put man and thank you for your comment!

A thorough explanation with an analogy to support the choice to show T-Rex retreating: Though tyrannosaurus rex can win, losing an eye when you are hunting things like triceratops is not worth it. Quetzalcoatlus can't straight up win a fight but it could still indirectly kill the tyrannosaurus rex. Even ignoring that, a peck to the eye can cause some serious brain damage if it were to land directly. Even if you put ALL this aside, it will still hurt like crazy. Imagine if you are an overweight (so you don't run fast etc.) competitive eater with your arms tied behind your back being while eating an expensive meal outdoors, then two coordinated storks come in and try to take the meal. The pecks will do some minor but painful damage and if it goes for your eyes can be seriously dangerous, as well as a risk of infection after the wound is made. You would probably leave the meal because paying for the injuries and potentially permanent eye damage is not worth it. Plus, it is painful being pecked at. The tyrannosaurus has tiny arms so unlike humans, it cannot simply punch or scratch the bird. The only way to damage it is to try to get it with your tail which would be difficult because you would need to turn around fast, potentially risking falling over as such a heavy animal (which is very dangerous), or allow your head and eyes (AND NOSE! They had a great sense of smell) getting hurt in the process of attacking. In the end, tyrannosaurus rex is a great hunter, it is better to risk losing the meal then go through all that. The quetzalcoatlus fly so it isn't likely they will just sit around the food all day long, so you will probably be able to return and get your fill without unnecessary injury. And yes, tyrannosaurus rex and quetzalcoatlus are both intelligent enough to figure this out, plus it probably had experience, be it learned or taught, as well as instinct. They had way more time to figure this out evolutionary wise since the animals we have today already have super developed instincts, which would mean a few more million years would be a LOT of time to develop more complex instincts and intelligence. To the people wondering why the tyrannosaurs backed off is because it doesn’t want to risk being injured. Similar to humans a lot of people be cautious around animals for a bit because we don’t want injuries. The Tyrannosaurus rex can definitely defeat the quetzalcoatlus but it isn’t the smart move.

As an apex predator of course you would just like a male lion wouldn't hesitate to attack a marabou stork who got too close to its kill. And the likelihood of getting your eyeballs destroyed by one of those beaks would be pretty low. Remember this is an animal who battled much larger and more dangerous animals on a regular basis. Triceratops for example.

In nature, tis the matter of whether or not a situation is, by the words of a man more informed than I: "worth the callories". Best strategy for flying creatures to get a carcass? Annoy the crap of the predator who took it down with teamwork. And some Rex fanboys think a fight to the death is how nature likes to go, nuh uh. (I've come to make an annoucement! rodr////shot. Intimidation from something taller and the fact that pecks from 6 foot backs gonna hurt. It's not deadly just not worth it, the rex can come back in a few hours and eat instead of risking an eye peck or actual injury of any kind. It's a matter of risk v.s. reward.
@woolfyx
@woolfyx Жыл бұрын
T-Rex in prehistoric planet also murders Triceratops which would be far more formidable opponent than Spinosaurs and Giganotosaurus. In direct combat Quetz has no chance and can only win thanks to superior numbers. It's normal behavior that predator dosen't want to risk injury if he don't have to, so T-Rex fanboys can calm down :)
@SleepySloth2705
@SleepySloth2705 Жыл бұрын
Pterosaurs have the advantage of flight so they can easily out-manouver a land predator. And given the Quetzalcoatlus size, numbers, and powerful beak, the T-Rex wouldn't be able to eat in peace. You see this kind of tactic in modern-day animals, too. Birds can bully away bears, as well as hyenas can chase away lions. Predators will always avoid injury whenever they can because it can be very crippling, especially when attacked by flying scavangers(which usually target the eyes)
