I was a copper on a specialist public order unit. We dealt with protesters and activists quite a lot, (I know this recorder is neither). The key to resolving these situations was KNOWING the law. Because we knew that the people we were dealing with sure as hell knew it. We had almost as much input on it, as an other aspect of our role. You cannot send cops into situations like this, ill prepared, or they'll quite rightly get schooled, like this recorder has clearly schooled this lot. I take my hat off to the guy. Once they're on the back foot, he's won. If I'd have been any one of those cops, I'd have been p***ed off, but would also have thought "fair do's pal".

Trespass also becomes criminal when it's aggravated which is the trespasser is actively interfering with lawful activity on the property. But just because it's now criminal doesn't allow the owner to use force. In fact it means its more a police matter. Using force inappropriately or too soon opens the owner to potential criminal charges at worst and possible civil claims at best.

I just visited an expensive hotel in dhropshire .surrounded by 5 heavily protected security who asked me to get out of my car and explain why I was there!! I said I came for afternoon tea .they told me to leave as its under private rental now.very expensive wedding venue and have now been told these foteigners in the hotel are being trained at our forces base at Donnington.3 coaches a day being military trained.
