Bugoy works extremely well with Daryl, Michael & Katrina but when he gets the opportunity to shine like this in a solo capacity, “he grabs it by the balls, squeezes hard & sings the piss out” of a song..... Okay so. Yes I agree with all the points you raised about him. Actually, the music of the Philippine culture is centred around long notes, ballads, belts, and smoothness with clear diction above all. However, as you pointed out, imperfections (huskiness, rasp, growl) possessed by many unknown / not so popular artists, invite a different type of audience. Bugoy, in his element, is the greatest but if you compare him to other Filipino singers, sadly, he’s very much underrated. His soul shone through this performance and that’s probably what you saw, what drew you in. I do agree... maybe he’s the glue in the group. He doesn’t have the range that Darrel has or the smooth sailing romantic voice that Michael has, BUT... he delivers soul naturally and very effortlessly. I wish that they gave him more solo rifts or adlibs in their group performances. His texture and his tone is very unique. It fills up the room and you just wanna jam with it. That package you referred to in the end... is much more likely to be his VIBE as a person. Thanks for reacting to this.

For another accomplished performance on the Wish Bus there is Gary Valenciano's version of "Spain". Unfortunately, for some reason there isn't a copy on their channel with good resolution anymore (only 144p), but there's an HD version on Daily Motion. Every vocal coach who has reacted to it has been impressed. Another highly rated singer is Dimash Kudaibergen from Kazakhstan, who participated in the Singer show the year before KZ Tandingan was there. Many people started with his Episode #1 "S.O.S." and were so impressed they had to watch the others. Unfortunately, it is Singer season again, and you would risk a copyright strike by using any performances from that show, but there is another just as popular version of the same song from the Slavic Bazaar in 2018.
