let,s not forget the fact that allistiar en tyrone know each others fight style from back in the days when they use to train at lucian carbin . allistair started focusing on mma (free-fight it was called over here back in those days) while tyrone was fully dedicated to kick boxing and muay thai .. and hell yeah he is the more technical of the two witch is pretty logical if you keep in mind that he also trains with ernesto mr. perfect hoost.

Tyrone Spong with 4 oz MMA gloves is gonna be fucking scary. The biggest knock on high level strikers that transitioned into MMA is that they usually never took the time to work on their wrestling or Jiu-Jitsu (ahem Duane Ludwig & Ray Sefo) The high level Strikers who did work on their wrestling & their Jiu-Jitsu (Overeem) are fucking scary. With Spong training with Rashad Evans and Alistair Overeem, this guy is gonna be a beast in 4 years. Spong might be fighting Jon Jones in about 4 years

Oh Man I Love spong k1 Lumpinnee stadium thai boxing etc... but you can't just teach him how to sprawl and think he won't get taken down. He needs to get high level grappling skills and that's just a fact. In the striking realm he is in another level than Almost anyone in mma and he's def the best at lhw.

tyrone was always this much of a beast though man. Honestly i think he's better then overeem but overeem has alot of size on tyrone. and overeem is good enough to use it intelligently. but i think tyrone is the more skilled puncher at least. can't wait to see how he holds up on the ground.

Cus a mma fight is a differnt story sum times stand-up fighter have trouble with theire positioning cus in order to bring the best out of your kicks you wanna stand high on your feet witch makes you more a danger for takedowns and such .

I mean its possible. Stand up is risky. And some guys were kickboxers like JDS was a kickboxer. Everything is possible. It takes the right kind of kickboxer to translate his skills well in MMA. I think spong is that kind of guy. Hunt was that kind of guy who did fairly well doing so. And in his prime nobody was standing up with him in mma at all. Fast forward 10 years and its a little different.

But dont be mistaken A.O goth a lott of technical skills to its just since he went up to HW he uses less technical skills and more Power type stuff. Tyrone Wants to take you apart and dus not mind taking his time for it ... while a.o just wants to knock your lights out and finish it before you know it. In the k1 fight A.O just was to strong for spong at the end spong suprised reem in the first round .But those damn heavy hooks of reem where to much . But a second meeting haha its 50 -50

i agree with you. The funny thing is that most of you guys don´t get that probably 90% of these heavier top fighters are juicing. it´s not always that obvious. If you look extremely athletic also has somethin to do with you genetics, nutrition and training. juice helps of course.

yeah but overeem had his hands down and overeem doesnt have a gas tank. If you know overeems bane through his career it has been his endurance. A great example is when he fought shogun. u see him doing pretty well but then he starts breathign hard. boom. done. Same with sergei kharitanov. and if u watch him fight remy bonjasky he tires as well. he got tired as always. Against big foot same issue. that was bigfoots game plan. Spong is more technical than overeem anyway. and faster.

What year are you in med school? Man I'll tell you this. I've trained with top level mma athletes and straight from their mouth...everybody is on something to compete at this level. This is a well known gym that has a lot of fighters in the ufc. I do not think that Overeem's muscle has been gained naturally and that's my opinion.

So? K-1 grand prix is a tournament. They fight multiple times in a single day. Injuries add up through the tournament. Alistair easily dispatched saki because of his broken arm and aerts had a slug fest in his last fight as was injured. Badr and a few other guys were also not present in that tournament. A tournament is only the best guy to show up. K-1 grand prix championship is not a defendable title. And it makes all the difference. Look at cro cop in his prime. he was a runner up.

LOL what? that statement didn't even make sense. Alistair is not a technique fighter. He's a big guy with limited kickboxing technique and a lot of size. He has continually lost fights because of his endurance and poor defense. On the other hand we have Spong who is technical, powerful, and fast with good head movement and enough endurance to fight probably 5 rounds of fight. He is also a combination puncher. those skills translate much better into mma than hunts or Alistair's.

He said in an interview that overeem is a good striker but if you get him tired you can knock him out. chuck knew this shogun knew this. Sergei kharitanov knew this about overeem. Big foot stated that he defended himself until overeem got exhausted and then attacked. Overeem was winning the stand up exchanges. unfortunately he's cocky and stupid. But spong and overeem are different types of fighters. spong is technique &speed

Mark Hunt won the K-1 grand prix in 2001 did he not? thats 12 years ago. And Dos Santos still got hurt in that fight. It didnt come down tot echnique in that fight but endurance and speed. and hunt was winning the second round til dos santos took him down. Dos Santos is 10 years younger than mark hunt. so yeah you know hunt hasnt won k-1 since 01. 12 years ago. He's way past his prime. Spong is much much faster and has way more endurance. And more technique. he's fuck dos santos up easily.

Says the guy who obviously does not understand striking. Alistair is by no means a super technical K-1 striker he is just much much larger than his opponents with decent technique. He has lost many times in K-1. Everyone knows to beat Alistair you get him tired and then you knock him out. Thats how he's lost about every fight in his entire career.
