I had a hell of a time stopping my membership at 24 Hour Fitness....... I had to actually get into a shouting pushing match to make them stop billing me.......They finally gave up when I said I was going to my bank to cancel my credit card...... They threatened to call the police if I didn't stop yelling at them..... A couple of spectators encouraged me to get rowdy.

Why did you think that? I've watched Tyrus for as long as Gutfeld has been available & his slant on almost every subject is brought down to brass tacks by him. He's still funny but he's the reality baser & points out each focal point in a way that everyone actually sees both the depth of each issue as well as the real focal points. At first I was surprised but it happened so regularly it became the norm. I'm a fan.

Sounds like PF picked up Bally's gyms old habits. Early 90's trying to cancel a gym membership was like herding cats. Idk if they still do it, but back then to join a gym, you had to link it to your bank account so they knew they'd get paid. You go in, you cancel, they keep the ETF lines open. It was literally easier to cancel your bank account and open a new one. Never looked at another gym again. Besides, it's easier and cheaper to work out at home, more so now than ever before with access to on-demand videos. Excellent interview with Tyrus. Guy is just an awesome dude all the way around :)

Omg, i have a gym membership cancelation story! It's not a national chain but our local hospital has a fitness center. When i was a teacher my husband and I had a membership at that gym. I got pregnant and was very sick. I couldn't talk to anyone, much less call this gym to cancel my membership. I had my mother call bc obviously my husband and I were very tied up with my pregnancy and hospitalization. After our daughter was born and i things kind of went back to normal, i was trying to sort our finances out. As i went through our mail, i found this statement from the gym, they kept charging us! We owed them almost a grand! I called and contested this bill. I was told i had to come into the gym to cancel and that nobody could cancel our membership by phone, not even us! That bill never got paid! That was ridiculous!

I joined planet fitness when it opened here in Moses Lake, Washington and left after about a month because they would not clean the shit out of the men’s restroom because the toilet overflowed and insisted on waiting until the plumber got there to clean it up. I don’t know why you need a plumber to clean up shit out of the bathroom floor And they yelled at me for somebody else, not wiping down their machine because they “watched the floor like a hawk “and tried to make it my issue about someone else not wiping down the machine which I replied if it’s such a big deal mention it to them or just go wipe the damn thing down yourself and cancel my membership immediately

After a month, l asked the guy next to me what he thought my favorite machine was at the gym. He looked me up and down and said, "The vending machine." A new gym opened near me. The whole Planet Fitness thing annoys me. There are so many ways to solve the problem. When I went to my brother's wedding the hotel had a deal with a gym a mile and half away in another state that I walked to. The last time I went, there was a male janitor cleaning the ladies' locker room. They put up signs that said if you didn't feel comfortable with that, you could use the bathroom for the spa section that I assume you'd have to pay more for to get into. The man was very professional and doing his job, so I didn't feel threatened using the restroom while he was working on the other side of the room. This Planet Fitness stuff is just plain nutty.

Silly... Call your credit card and tell them to stop payment to any vender, and IT STOPS. CCs will respect you, especially when you've had multiple dealings with the vender and they refuse to recurringly charge, or they lie and keep charging when you told them to cut membership. If you can get a picture of a formal letter to them, record them (check your local laws to make sure you're in a 1-party record consent state...), even better; so you can provide that to the bank or CC provider.

In the late 80s I had a membership at a _Gold's Gym_ in SoCal. My routine included using free weights and machines and some time on a bike. They tried to tell me I needed to choose between the FW and Machines for each workout and stop using both during the same period. I disagreed. Then I asked for a copy of the policy. Our relationship deteriorated... _Rapidly._ SO, I tried to quit. They tried to make me go down to the _OG Gold's_ in LA to speak with the _Membership coordinator._ SO, I bitched about it to my employer, a Lawyer. He bet me $100 that before the end of the next week, My membership would be canceled and they would give money. He won. Okay, he cheated. He filed a $100,000 lawsuit. Corporate sent out lawyer to solve the problem. I got ALL my paid dues refunded and they bought me membership at a *_NO FRILLS_* gym block away. I was much happier there.
