I'm amazed at some of the comments I just read. especially from fellow coaches. We each have our own different way of teaching and if I disagree with one of your techniques I won't publicly bash your work but I'd message you personally and share what I know so the other person can correct their mistake, Which according to your own opinion was a mistake. grow up people & great work Tyshan

Oh man thanks....I was looking for an easier video to break it all down, and yours was the easiest to understand, and great examples too! I write alot of music, and most of them involve soulful r&b, and pop genres. So thanks alot for this video, now I can really find more ways to get creative, and understand the transitions from each voice more better.

This was so informative! I naturally can belt but always shy away from using falsetto or my head voice but now knowing it's so common I will start playing with both like you mentioned! Very excited thank you so much for breaking it down so simply!

Every single video that you post is really educational not to mention practical (I was singing all voices along and now I know the differences between them crystal clear) originally tuned in for the riffs and runs but things in this vid are also very important a side note I think these singing lessons/tips are meant for intermediate-experienced singers and not suitables for complete beginners right? thanks a lot!

I hate to say it, but what he calls his "mixed voice" is actually just the upper ranges of the chest range. Any tenor, or even most basses can easily hit those in a normal chest voice. And a real mixed voice uses both the power of your chest with the upper range of a falsetto.
@soysaucehairdye7869
@soysaucehairdye7869 10 жыл бұрын
I don't mean to be a douche, but he was clearly singing in mixed voice there where he is using chest but also sending air for head resonance. Sorry but most men singers can't sing smoothly in pure chest voice from D#4 and up which was what he was doing. I am a leggiero tenor who happens to have a pure chest voice that goes up to D#4, but generally speaking I sing in mixed voice way before that and only sing in pure chest voice to accent certain emotion. Not to mention pretty much every other tenor and other male voice type has to enter mixed voice much sooner than D#4.
@TotalSinging
@TotalSinging 9 жыл бұрын
SoySauce HairDye Nonsense. If you are "mixing" lower and upper resonances long before D#4 you are thinning out the voice way too early - especially for a tenor. "Mixing" of upper resonance into the tone starts around D#4-E4 for the average male voice, but not way before that.
@soysaucehairdye7869
@soysaucehairdye7869 9 жыл бұрын
Rock the Stage NYC yeah I don't really mix my voice below D#4 contrary to what I said up above, but my voice is light down until an F3 and below where I start sound extremely dark and baritonish. I speak between G#3 and C4 most of the time with some inflections going slightly higher so I just have a rather high voice where notes like E3 sound low as fuck for me.
@TotalSinging
@TotalSinging 9 жыл бұрын
SoySauce HairDye OK because to mix that early would seriously thin out a voice to an almost soprano like quality by the time you got to C5.

Tyshan, I have a serious question needed the explanation. How to do a proper transition between CHEST voice and falsetto. Like in these songs: Scar The Martyr - Cruel Ocean. And Papa Roach - Nights Of Live (Chorus). Both can be found on youtube. Please answer, this will help A LOT.
