His preseason performance has a lot of Bears fans convinced that Tyson Bagent has some potential. He definitely performed better than PJ Walker and Nathan Peterman, so the question is, has Bagent earned a spot on the Bears Roster in 2023? Check out the full preseason Highlights of every single pass play!

Fields still can't grip the football because of his injury, but you can bet he's chomping at the bit to play since he senses the heat. Bagent did a great job, but now there's tape on him and he's facing a stronger team than LV. @@r1zzo69

very quick going through his progressions. I don't care what school he went to -- he's the most fundamentally sound QB on the roster. Whether that can translate to being a good starter is yet to be determined, but he looks extremely promising.

Tyson definitely has the ability to hold down the fort if Fields ever goes down. He has excellent footwork. Always keeps his shoulders square when on the move. Has a quick release that never sees the ball dip. Only thing I'd say is he should get his arm a little stronger, that deep ball had potential to be on the money more than it was.

@Ragtime4 Different team, different system = different results! Maybe if we kept him, he would have looked better and gotten more comfortable in this system. I know it can't be easy to learn a completely different system in months at that level. That being said, he did not look like a QB2 we could win with based on this years pre-season performance, and that's all we (fans) (organization) could go off of!

Consistent short pass plays can be very underrated. Tom Brady did it a lot to win. It keeps your defense off the field and always fresh and wears down the defense, specially the pass rushers. Bagent will start a game in 2 days from now. I think almost all rookie QBs who start a game this early will not be properly ready in some way but if anybody can make it happen, it's Bagent. 😎

While Fields may not possess the same level of natural talent as some, Bagent's field awareness is a strong point in his game. He demonstrates the ability to read the field, spot receivers, and make quick decisions. He typically releases the ball within four seconds, and when the play breaks down, he's not afraid to use his legs or take a sack, although sometimes opting to throw the ball away might be a better choice. Given the opportunity to start and gain more experience, there's no doubt he can excel. Personally, I'm a fan of Fields. However, it's fair to say that his field awareness can be improved. While he's incredibly agile, his decision-making can be a bit sluggish when it comes to passing. It's worth noting that our offensive line might benefit more from a pocket passer, allowing them to protect the pocket effectively. In the end, the choice between a running quarterback and a pocket passer depends on the team's overall strategy and the strengths of the players. Both styles can be successful with the right game plan and execution.

Take away his INT because of the dropped 26 yard TD on the play before. Also the pick was strictly miscommunication. Fountain was supposed to break inside instead of running the hitch. Also Fountain dropped another 15 yard completion later in the game. By my count, his stats are: 22/29 (76%), 197 yards, 1 TD passing, 2 TD rushing. Thats phenomenal for a backup

Yeah. I noticed that as well. Rookie player thing he’ll grow out of. He did it once or twice in his debut, but he mostly read his cues and got rid of the ball fairly quick. He brings something else I haven’t seen in Bears AB’s in a while… a freaking pump fake. No idea why it’s not taught the way it used to be. You drop back and push a great pump fake, it can be deadly. I dunno… might be because coaches don’t want to mess with mechanics too much or something. Even with that… Bagent has said the bears coaches are already messing with his mechanics. He has always had left foot back on the snap, and the bears want him to have right foot back. I swear, those coaches meddle with things they should leave alone. True enough, I’m no coach at that level… but I’ve played enough sports to know if the coach tried to get me to change my mechanics, my overall production would suffer for it until I did it so much I became accustomed to it. After doing it one way for years… that’s no small feat.

@Portuducks
@Portuducks 8 ай бұрын
First two games were impressive at first glance, but these were mostly simple rollout PAs or west coast quick slants, and he was guilty of staring down receivers, though the level of competition let him get away with that. I was most impressed with his third game, because he was going up against the same Bills defense that Fields encountered but looked better than Justin. He also looked good running the screens by initially staring downfield before pitching it to the RB. He was better at not staring down receivers and was able to maneuver himself in the pocket in order to give WRs enough time to finish their routes to get open. He looks so advanced in his pocket presence and footwork. The INT was an Anticipation throw to a slant route that was stifiled by the DB. The nickel back that picked it off just happened to be in that throwing lane. Remember, he had offers to transfer to D1 WV, MD, and Northwestern, but a lot of his college credits would not have transferred, which would've delayed his grahduation, so he stayed at D2 Shepherd. A true student-athlete. My disappointment in the Bears is getting balanced out by the excitment of possibly seeing Bagent on the field later this season. He has the arm, the mobility, and the mechanics to be an NFL QB.
