The health of fighters should be number 1 priority, but with the amount of money especially when you see mike Tyson being offered unbelievable amounts of money to fight at his age makes fighters risk there health and makes a conundrum for fighters. I'm with you about Azim vs Smith now. We wait too long in boxing and fights don't happen. There's examples like eubank jr vs Saunders, aj vs whyte, degale vs groves and all those went on to have solid top level careers even if without a belt I whyte and eubanks cases. Also as we have just seen with wardley vs Clarke that first fight was great and we are still get to see how good fabio is and whether Clarke can come back. I see it from Ben's point of view he had a bad night recently with whitaker not looking great and Clarke emphatically so can see him trying to protect his prospects and keep them apart.
@joewhite222 ай бұрын
I feel like that was the big reason Fury came back from his retirement. At least I felt it was less about the boxing side of things. You only have to look at what he's done since he came back - fought Chisora a third time because it was seen as Fury giving an old rival a pay day, then fought a non-boxer, then he ducked Usyk initially until he had nowhere to hide and there was too much money to turn down.

As soon as you start fighting for only money you become a punishment worker. Fury just looks completely done. Look at how the pair of them look when next to each other, Usyk literally looks in his early 30's and Tyson looks old when its Usyk who is is the older man. Yes Tyson doesn't have pressure anymore as he's second ranked now, but he also doesn't have that positive delusion that gives these people that needed self belief. If he loses this badly he should retire, but I think he is still after more money.

I mean, all boxing is about money really but Fury has gone from being quite modest and only talking about his comeback and mental health and being quite the national positivity icon during Covid to this less than humble (till humbled) shouty, greedy, braggadocio - to part quote the great George Foreman. I wish he’d just fight and stfu about his earnings - you never heard Usyk banging on about the millys. Fury’s personality bypass since beating Deontay at his own game, has been his downfall. He needed to match big mouth Deontay for aggression for THAT series of fights but since then he’s let it define him and ultimately flaw him to a quite definitive loss. Shame.
