I bought this game from a small Japanese electronics shop when I was a Marine stationed at Camp Hansen in Okinawa back in 1983. I practically wore that thing out by the time I went back to the States a year later. Great game too! I remember being pretty good at it on Level 3. However, I did have to share the game with some of my fellow Marines. Thanks for bringing back some good memories, TysyTube!

At 3:00 that’s not the charging port, that was for a DC adapter to run it plugged in instead of with batteries. Old electronics like this didn’t have built-in charging capability; if you had rechargeable removable batteries you needed to take them out and charge them using the battery charger, just like you still do.

@@Winther83 You used nickel-cadmium as rechargeable batteries with toys like these and charging them was sometimes as easy as putting power into them, straight on. No circuitry needed.

I'm completely in love with your restoration videos, probably one of the best restoration channels there is. Very relaxing, explains the process through captions. You do a wonderful job! Only thing I was surprised about is that you didn't remake the sticker on the back of this console. Still really cool. Would be nice to see other consoles restored

Those times... when the electronics are almost had a lifetime life. Now in 2020, Samsung produces electronics which have a lifetime equal to warranty time. Which is 2 years. Xiaomi states it openly in their packages that the product has a two year electronics warranty and five years lifetime. Only 5 years! But why?

Really great save! Put a smile on my face when you powered up the game. I have repaired several over the years. Most of the time it's just a loose wire or corroded battery terminals. And just plain dirty.

@@cindykincade589 The word applies to anything or anyone or any place that's in a filthy, dirty, messy (etc) state. Dirty hands could be grotty. A dirty, muddy, ******-laden, dusty, decrepit building that's fallen into disrepair could be grotty. A kid whose clothes are a mess and they're unwashed etc could also be grotty. You get the idea. My point is, it doesn't just relate to messy. dirty, filthy gaming consoles. :)

Yup, almost all of the games of that era were VFDs. It looks, from the demo, like the VFD might be starting to go, or the contacts need more cleaning, I could see dimming and maybe some ghosting. 8 Bit Guy fixed a Pac Man VFD machine with ghosting.

Il y a 10 jours, ma fille me demande de changer les piles dans la fausse guitare électrique qu'elle adore. J'ouvre la trappe pour les piles, elle était pleine d'une espèce de poudre blanche comme du sel. Je retire un peu de la poudre, je change les piles. Ça ne fonctionne pas. Je mets la guitare dans la pile "à jeter". Hier je regarde votre vidéo (regarder des gens qui réparent des choses ça me calme). Ce matin je me dis "quand même je vais essayer". Je rouvre le compartiment des piles je prends un pinceau et du vinaigre blanc et je nettoie vraiment le "sel". Ça fonctionne de nouveau 😁 merci !
