Serious question: It's a necessary and accepted part of flying that you have to submit to scanning/security search before boarding a plane. But do the cops in these incidents even have a right to search your bags without a warrant? Especially after it was already screened and cleared by federal TSB agents/airport security? My gut tells me that these are unlawful searches/seizures but I honestly don't know.

Without a warrent they can't legally search you and your belongings. They count on you not knowing your rights. When you consent to a search you are now aiding in their investigation to collect evidence against you. When we don't know our Constitutional Rights we have no rights!!! People say, "If you have nothing to hide just consent." WRONG! Our forefather's had nothing to hide and knew the consequences of government overreach hence the Bill of Rights was born. Never consent. Remember, law enforcement can legally lie to you and legally steal from you but it's a crime for you to do the same to them. Nuff said.

Actually these agents would rather find cash than any contraband since they can use asset forfeiture laws to confiscate your cash. They won't charge YOU with any crime because YOU have rights and are innocent till they PROVE you guilty. But your cash assets have no such protection so they will take it and you must enter into negotiations to get ANY of it back. In most cases you'll need a lawyer and the local DA will tie you up with court filings till it becomes clear your legal bills will exceed the money they confiscated. Long story short you've just been robbed and there is little you can do about it. Moral of this story: Never carry ANY significant sum of cash when you are travelling and pray they never get to the point where they take your bank debit card and force you to withdraw whatever your limit is or drain your account completely. Law enforcement corruption at it's finest and it's ALL legal.

Exactly once you go through the check point and you and your bags were checked. If some so- called agents ask you to let them go through your bag. Tell them to get a warrant. Unless you've committed some sort of crime they have no right to go through any of your belongings. Your rights do not stop because you're in an airport. It's still publicly funded and the laws still need to be followed. And if the Airlline knows about this happening and they aren't doing anything to stop it. Sue them as well.

Here's my problem with these situations in America or anywhere in the world. If you work as a salesman and you're not good at your job, you get fired. If you're a cook and your food sucks, you get fired. Atlanta is racist in general. I lived there for 4 years and worked as a janitor at school, delta sky club clean up crew, walmart and dollar tree. Each job I had to leave because of some racist remark from a teacher or customer. With walmart I was the only black male and then I was told that I was being made as an example for the new people to finish their projects on time.

Happened to me in Fort Lauderdale. It is no joke. The Asian lady in front of me said she was glad they were doing it when they asked ONLY me in my Africa agbata to step out of the line. Almost missed my flight. & The threat of violence is there the entire time. You are not talked to with respect. Two officers quickly turn into a coterie and everyone gawks at you. Humiliating. They speak in commands and they will touch you if they want you to stand over there. Even when calm and fully complaint. I only asked...since this is random, how come nobody else? By the time you get that far into the airport you have had your bags scanned and searched already. You have to take your shoes and belt off. You walk thru a xray machine. So why they feel like that they need to do an additional search. This is clearly a violation of civil rights, its also kidnapping and robbery. Those SEARCHES violate the 4th Amendment. In order to perform a search, police must have reasonable, articulable suspicion that a crime has been committed, or is about to be comitted, or they must have a valid search warrant.
