Who are these people who complain that you talk too much or who want this to be made with a SMALLER piece of paper? The gene pool gets shallower every day. I thought it was a great piece of teaching, elegant design, a useful item made beautifully. You have MAD skills and I am IN LOVE with this video. Elegant, please keep going.

I know this video has been around a while, but I'm sure glad I found it! Following the instructions in this video I made a wallet from a map I got during my last bikepacking trip in Sawtooth National Forest and the Sun Valley, Idaho area. These small maps are made of very thin plastic, are waterproof and tear proof. It was only slightly more difficult because of the folds already on the map. Other than that, it turned out perfect! This map was the only thing I brought back with me from a week long, snowing, freezing rain, cold solo bikepacking trip. Thank you for this awesome video!!

It has become some kind of a Christmas tradition, to come back to this video each year and folding my supply of wallets for a year. In addition to Tyvek, I also use baking parchment. With a width of 38cm as it comes of the reel and a length of 33,5cm. It holds 50€ notes max. and is as durable as Tyvek.

@@alexanderpoplawski577 Besided baking parchment, what over materials have you used that has held up well?
@alexanderpoplawski5772 жыл бұрын
@@utubepunk For my personal use, I pretty much stick with Tyvek and baking parchment. I bought a reel of decorative baking parchment and they come out quite nice. For money presents I use gift wrapping paper, but it's not fit for daily wear and tear. Still have to watch the video every year to relearn the folding 😀.

I hope you never take this video down. I have used it several times to make wallets from decorative papers at the stationery store. They turn out beautifully! Thanks so much for posting them. Please ignore the idiot that complained about you talking too much.

Made a few of these and a recreation of the dynomighty wallet. This is nice because there's no template cutting and no gluing. Also, you have some control over the size of the card pockets and can make them a little snug... (tip, when measuring for the card, I use a reference card and fold ever so slightly smaller than that... seems to work out.) I haven't used either one extensively yet so I can't say which one would hold up longer.

It's a Copic airbrush system. It uses the Copic brushes and compressed air (from a canister or with a compressor) to blow air over the nib of the markers. It works pretty well, different colors have slightly different spray characteristics, so you do have to experiment. It won't replace a dedicated airbrush, but if you only need this once in a while, it fits that niche.
@JanetLanier11 жыл бұрын
I really like this and your instructions are great. I have taken wrapping paper with owl motifs and covered it with clear strapping tape before folding. It turned out to be a cute owl wallet for my sister. Thank you for sharing the tutorial.

I'm definitely gonna give it a shot & just wanted to let ya know how appreciative I am of the time & effort you put into making it. ~Thanks again! =) Amanda from Chicago!

If you have any old maps lying around (like the ones AAA used to hand out) then they make great wallets using this method. Quite sturdy and they last me a few weeks.

Look, as an engineer that works with different sheet sizes I’ll tell you, it doesn’t matter the sheet size you use if you keep the size proportions, for example, every A format sheet from A0 to A6 has the same side proportion, the long side’s length is the square root of 2 multiplied by the short side’s length which is approximately 1,41 times longer. You can see this with an A3 format which measures 420mm X 297mm. Anyways, as long as the proportion between sides of the sheet you use are the same as his’ you will get the exact same wallet either bigger or smaller.

Thanks fo this tutorial ! I'm making this wallet for the third time, they're great ! The tyvek wears a little with time, but I enjoy that, it looks like a random piece of paper , very discreet ^^ I topstitched around the edges of the wallet, making sure I dont close the bill pocket. I'll try to cover it with some duct tape. I'm getting away from the origami concept, but I'm looking for more durability here.

Tyvek lasts about a year with normal use. If you go to the post office you get Priority Mail(or what ever country you're in) tyvek envelopes free. Unfortunately if you don't want the designs on the envelope of the country where you acquired it then you're not going to like the wallet that much. On the inside of the US ones it says 'Thank you for using Priority mail' so you can't just have the inside exposed. If you travel it would be cool to pick one up from each country though. . .

Man, you absolutely rock. I mean... It was necessary to repeat it over and over because you went too hard on the explanation and too weak on the steps per se (The first hour of trying I thought " What a douchebag!" ), but besides that it actually worked. I realized about the effort you actually put on this. This video had a whole process on me (from a hatefull frustration to victorious thankfullness). Thank you very much.

I realy like the design. made myself a little christmas wallet out of wrapping paper, might last the holydays over, might not hehe. I wanted a bit more protection for my cards then the design offers, so being fortunent enough to have a laminator i crafted 6 pieces of laminated paper. sized them to fit the "back wall", the middle wall (between the cash pocket and creditcard pockets) and finaly the wall of the creditcard pocket aswell. Seems to be working very nice, and might even be reusable :)

Andrej Hanzekovic Proportions depend on the size of the bigger paper bill in your country.(Let's be optimistic!!) For exemple, this model doesn't work with Euros. You need a sheet mesuring a tiny bit over twice the length and three time the width of the bigger bill in your country. The 500 € bill is 160 mm x 82 mm. The $100 bill is 155.95 mm x 66,294 mm.
