+JonGetsGames For the better! I seen some reviews now and must say you are bringing a fresh breeze under a hot sun. Specialy you'r new ones are done perfect. "Brilliant, intense, deep, heavy euro and how much Jen and I love this game" don't work for me. I like the last part of the starlit citadels reviews for some analysis. Analysis is what is missing and I've been looking for most. Good job filling that gaping hole Jon, keep up the good work. Realy appreciate your aproach!

Hi John, REALLY love your play throughs and your whole style!Here, please let me add that this game is very deep. As long as you haven't passed the 100 points score (even 150+ is possible) you are basically intermediate player. There are several strategies that get there and they are all hybrid strategies the most common one being going heavy on buildings PLUS getting 2-4 skulls (with maximum technology level there) at the end boosting the pyramid scoring up.When equally skilled players compete it is most likely the one who accomodates his strategy best on the drawn combination of monuments who wins in the end. Thus, almost all your criticism concerning the strategic aspects of this game are problems of intermediate players that can be overcome... I fully agree on your statement concerning analysis paralysis, though.Again, I love your work and style, keep it up!!!

Hey there, thanks for the strategic input. I never want people to think I am more than an "intermediate player" for literally any game I cover and it doesn't surprise me too much that with much more play there are more layers underneath. The problem for me was that this was something I didn't like now and it didn't feel like I should work super hard to overcome it when I could just play other games that didn't seem to have this problem for me.

Hey Jon, great video! I know it's an older one, but I was just wondering if you've played this again with the Tribes & Prophecies expansion? If so, have you found that it fixes the original issues with the three main paths to victory that you mentioned?

I never did, unfortunately. I think I sold this somewhat soon after making the review.

Does the expansion Tribes and Prophecies solve your issues with the game about the 3 paths to victory?

@@2532robh1 I hope so too. Keep in mind that these are flaw as perceived by me. I've discussed this with several people who love the game and they simply don't see this issue that I'm talking about here so it's certainly not an established fact about the game.

Hey Jon, Have you tried the expansion? Does it help towards some of the issues you had?

I haven't had the opportunity. I looked into it, and decided that I don't think it is going to fix the issues that I personally had with the game. It's possible the extra options of things to do could let someone jump VP strategies mid game, but I am not convinced so I decided not to spend the money on it unfortunately :(
