U-2 Dragon Lady Chase Car! - California Capital Airshow 2021

Come along for a ride in the chase car for a behind the scenes look at U-2 Dragon Lady demonstration at the 2021 California Capital Airshow in Sacramento, CA. The chase cars are driven by qualified U-2 pilots, who relay feedback and guidance to the aircraft pilot over the radio. Keep an eye out for the 'pogo' landing gear which falls off during the takeoff run and has to be re-attached by the ground crew after landing.

I saw a U-2 flying at Joint Base Andrews about 6.5 years ago. He took off and pulled up into 45 degree nose up attitude after a short takeoff roll. After it was back on the ground, they had a barrier and some armed guards surrounding it, because as I said to one of the guards, “A real magician never reveals his secrets.”
