Very relevant to this issue was the mid-1943 withdrawal of U-boats from Atlantic patrols. Flak and other 'improvements' were precursors to the re-introduction; the narrative ignores this policy.

The one thing I do know is that the BOFORS 40mm Quad Fire controlled anti-aircraft Guns were the best piece of equipment made for it's purpose, they simply shot down aircraft, and with the new high tech proximity fuse, perhaps the greatest invention of the war, aircraft was having a hard time for the first time, even Kamakaze's, intentionally trying to crash was not an easy endeavor

Yeah I think if the Germans had access to that 40mm Bofors they would have used it. USS Cod has one, single barrel, Bofors fore and aft of the bridge. I'm not sure though if I would want two bofors or eight 20mm cannons.

I think the opening Slide shows a Type VII C with Turmumbau IV or a Type VII C/41, because the boat has the typical "Satteltanks" and the shorter Wintergarten.

You are correct! I saw there is an emblem on the side of the conning tower, a unicorn. That emblem is associated with U-763 (Type VIIC), which was credited with shooting down two aircraft while on weather boat service. I'll correct that in the description to the video. Thank you.
