A beginner seeker needs people like Alan Watts , Eckhart Tolle A more advanced seeker need Osho , J Krishnamurti An even more advanced seeker need someone fierce like UG to shatter their “spiritual” illusion after reading too much about it It’s pointless to compare these amazing people , spiritual seekers in different stages need different teachers ,they all have their own purpose.

Honestly, I was just thinking this myself. I used to think U.G. was the "cranky" Krishnamurti compared to the kindly Jiddu! But over time, and through many embarrassing moments of false "awakening" and "breakthroughs" one comes to UG and after a few minutes, nods and then walks off, not so much enlightened as confirmed of a suspicion or a conspiracy. I might come back simply for the pleasure of the speech, but the "oh yeah!" moment that I can only come to at his age after this long is not a secret that can be revealed to the years of youth. I suppose an earnest person is too enamored of the romance that is associated with "life of the mind."

He's honest. Nothing anyone can say can liberate "you". Nothing "you" can "do" can liberate "you". You must stop "doing" altogether, if "liberation" is truly what you want....and it isn't. The conviction that something can be done to liberate "you" is the problem. Were you to stop searching, you wouldn't feel the need to listen to Alan Watts or Krishnamurti or your therapist or anybody. The search for a solution is creating the problem. Finis ab origine pedet. You want peace of mind? Stop wanting it. Then you'll have it. Period. I repeat, the desire for peace of mind is synonymous with the decision NOT to have it in this moment.
@ShakinJamacian
@ShakinJamacian 8 жыл бұрын
+Robin Payne This is the whole "seeker *implies* sought" dynamic, no? By wanting to at one with this universe, you have literally created an image of self that has been conditioned to feel not one with the universe.
@robinpayneguitar
@robinpayneguitar 8 жыл бұрын
ShakinJamacian Yes. Every spiritualist from here to Timbuktu is after the same thing: post-corporeal continuity of self (ego). There is no inherently existing self. Self is defined by other and thus cannot function or exist outside the framework of duality. I'm not saying there's nothing inherent at all. There is an implicit yet inherent oneness, but there's nothing "selfish" about that at all. This oneness cannot ever be aware of itself, because the very act of knowing constitutes a twoness. Even everyone's beloved Alan Watts concedes this point. He says the "godhead" (oneness) can never be an object of its own knowledge, just as a knife can't cut itself, fire can't burn itself, yada yada. This oneness is the "soul" of man, and to refer to the soul as a "higher self", "divine self", what have you, is simply to project selfish attributes onto an unfathomably unselfish phenomenon. The desire to "awaken" or evolve spiritually in any way is a rejection of god in the truest possible sense of the word, because it is a rejection of your current state of being. It is a rejection of the NOW. It's saying no, things aren't perfect the way they are..."I" have to step in and change a few things! Ego always finds a way to assert itself.

+Robin Payne You say, that if I want peace of mind I should stop wanting it. But here lies the ugly truth of it all. I can't stop wanting it, even if I know that I will get it if I do so. And if someday I finally realize that there is actually nothing to want. . . . ever. . . . it wont be my own doing, but a mere coincidence. A random event. So when you tell me I should stop wanting it, you are actually doing exactly what you are telling me I should not do. You shouldn't be telling anything to anyone. That is the whole truth of it. But look, In telling you not to tell me, I have created the same problem all over again. Goddamn vicious circle. I will stop talking now. Damn, I did it again. And again. Again. I hope this does not sound like gibberish to you. It is a very interesting topic. Even the ideology to renounce all ideologies is nothing but a mere ideology.

@flexibleguy UG was well known for saying...is that your understanding is from the knowledge passed on to you. He is one of many who I have absorbed their knowledge, for lack of a better word, and it just resonated with me as being closer to the truth of what this reality is that we share. What are we passing through? Why do we disturb ourselves so much as we pass through it? What is our true nature? The concepts UG shared can be very frightening to many but I discovered that to me and others...it seems to free us. As long as you face the fear head on that the truth may destory the very fabric of who you are and how you see the world. However for me it's very freeing that there is nothing to free yourself from except the very idea (thought) that you have to free yourself from something. It's like putting down your weapon and choosing not to fight a losing battle. I come back to UG to help me drop the weight of this world which is created by myself with my demands, both consciously and subconsciously, that the world be a certain way and I be a certain way in it.

UG is a master at triggering the futility of understanding life, through the thought mechanism that most people are trapped in. He is free but yet projects to others that they cannot be. So a division is held between them, a separation of sorts. There is no separate forms, so therefore they can find their way out like him as well. If he did, than others can as well.
@Campfire30
@Campfire30 Жыл бұрын
He doesn’t project TO others that they cannot be free. That’s not the way projection works. It works this way: Others project ONTO him that he is telling them they can’t be free. He’s literally not telling you anything about yourself. No one can do that. If you feel you cannot be free, that’s your feeling and your choice. I’m free. It’s not up to good ol’ UG or anyone else. In my country, there is a saying that goes, “Freedom isn’t free” but it literally is.

@@Campfire30You nailed it. Like my mother would always say "People do it to themselves." But when insight is the captain of the thought ship as you will, thought cannot create conflict. It's very interesting. It's in the talks ending of of time with physicist David bohm. Insight has to operate thought otherwise disorder and conflict arises.

There is no hopelessness in what he is saying. I don't understand why people think he is so gloomy. He is only saying that you are the one behind the questions. You are the one behind your perception of the world. What's so dismal about that? This is good realization! Go and live, and stop asking silly questions. That's all he says. Oh well. What do you want out of life? To levitate off the ground in a lotus position? To shoot beams of light from your third eye? Do not demand more than you are capable of or desire more than what life can offer, and you will be content. It's okay. There's nothing wrong with you.

From what I understand, the problem that we all want to solve cannot be solved through thinking (intellect) by putting it in a mental framework, and it is the constant demand to solve that deep rooted problem that makes our lives so miserable and desperate. Once the demand goes, reliance shifts to the Body (our true and only existence) - we are indeed just biological beings. Once that dawns upon an individual experientially, he sees the fallacy of Problems and the real place of his intellect (Thoughts). Its like saying once you understand the nature of fire, you just stop using it to douse fire.

It is smarter than you. It is you and it is woven from Fear. Fear of No-self. All Fear comes from fear of no self. We are Fear Refractors. Inside the Self is where Duality resides; Fear and Love, Right and Wrong, You and Not-You. These are deeply held beliefs. But they are False. "Nothing is right or wrong but thinking makes it so." The only criteria to judge what is right or wrong is by what occurs missing entirely that what Is, is "right". There is only one thing and what it is is what you are. UG is talking across paradigms. He sees 1, and the person he's talking to still sees 2. Compound that problem with the fact he's a poor communicator and you have a recipe for a total disconnect. People want answers and want to understand but in order to get to that level, the part that wants, must die. Ego can slay Ego, but Ego also wants the goodies, which can't happen. So people pour on knowledge and make studies of "waking up". Life is not a spectator sport. We buttress beliefs and reside in a reality that's whimsically drafted by consensus and we operate from there in the wrong direction in the pursuit of answers. It's not about knowing, it's about unknowing, and eliminating the Self doesn't come from the pull of desire, but from the push of suicidal discontent. Enlightenment is a furnace to the Self. Leaving duality means you don't get the good stuff either. Consciousness is the superset, the Universe is the subset, not the other way around. And that is the shared religion of the entire species. First rule of objective reality is that there isn't one, so that's more delusion. If you can't see yourself like all of humanity as a scrambled bunch of children playing make-believe, then you're pointing the flashlight in the wrong direction. "If you weren't amazed by how ignorant you were yesterday, then you haven't moved." Agree or disagree, I don't give a shit. But if you understood what the hell I was talking about you would know you didn't just read this, you just wrote it. It's about you.

You are the problem you are the solution . You are the confusion you are the harmony. You are the Madness you are the treatment . You are the question you are the answer . You are a fool and you can't defool yourself . To remain a fool is the essence of life. No questions no answers. Ignorance can not question ignorance . Ignorance can not answer ignorance . Ignorance can not end ignorance. A fool can not be a teacher for other fools. Bask in foolishness but alone.

Is UG the most liberated man ? He too was haunted by his thoughts about thoughts and about liberation. He said others were wrong but he didn't prove he is right. That is the beauty of a half grown mind . It creates chaos and finds out solutions to arrive at a higher ground of chaos . In the course of preaching not to search for solutions he is offering it as a solution. As a solutions he advices not do anything and not to try for solutions for imaginary goals. This itself is solution which may or may not be correct. To follow his opinion or not is left to those who doesn't look for any teaching or advice.

There really is something so paradoxical about being a nonduality teacher. I really don't envy that "calling". It would be so frustrating to try and teach that which cannot be taught as there is nothing to learn, and there is no one to learn it. What a weird existence indeed 😂

@@willissudweeks1050 I did not hit her I did nawt! ...Oh hi Malik.... Since you're here I'm guessing you're uploading a new video soon. Either way, I think there's something I need to clarify. When I talk about Taoism, the godhead, Yin and Yang, Zen, etc. I'm not trying to be philosophical but mystical. Philosophy means "the love of knowledge." It is an attempt to explain life with the intend of improving it. Mysticism is the inverse and is about accepting that life *cannot* be understood conclusively and is a mystery. Improvement of life can result from this, but obviously any intent to do so would a contradiction. Mysticism is bound up with wisdom and religion and appears from the outside to have metaphysical content, which is why you've confused the two in berating me as, "too philosophical," but they're completely different. I may seem to be trying to show off, but only because I'm not self conscious about remaining humble. The notion of a mystic being able to prove himself better than other people is absurd. You don't do it to be better yourself, much less other people -- you do it because you have *no need* to be better than other people. You're it. And so is everyone else. Most Buddhists meditate in order to become a Buddha. A zen Buddhist meditates because he is already a Buddha and always was. His zen is not seeking attainment but expressive of it, like an art form. I suppose I should also tell you that the "poem" I showed you was the oracle I cast on myself before posting my original comment in that chain using the I Ching or Book of Changes. I highly recommend looking it up for yourself, although not much of it will make sense to you at your level. It's one of the oldest Chinese texts and laid some of the groundwork for both Confucianism and Taoism. It is so arranged that one can use it for fortune-telling, but otherwise it no different than any other book on philosophy and it's central premise is that man and nature are one. The mystical insight from this is obvious. If man and nature are one, then there are no fundamental life problems to be solved. I don't anticipate that this will change your outlook on my comments much, but that's alright. I never expected you to understand mysticism because nobody does, much less become a mystic. I simply wanted to introduce you to this domain of human experience to help you gain a better understanding of the subjects I feel overlie it. If you can so much as dip your toe into mysticism and see three hairs on the end of the ox's tail as it rounds a tree (the ox being a metaphor for enlightenment) religion, philosophy, and literature will be peanuts to you.
