At the time of the Palestinian refuge crisis the definition of a Palestinian by the UN was someone living in the area for two or more years cause a significant margin of palestians were immigrants who moved there after the Jews made the area more prosperous. So wording it as the UN voted for Palestinians to return to their land is actually saying to deport them XD. The British explorers were really surprised how little people lived in the early 1900s. That whole area is very interesting to research and I’d say the my favorite is the nation of Jordan who has a very interesting and overlooked story. Indian ties go way beyond trade with Russia. Russia had India's back when, both, UK and USA were ready to attack Indian Eastern and Western coasts to support Pakistan in 1971 Indo-Pak war. When India was going through its worst famine and our PM went to USA for help, the NY Times headlined that the beggar leader of 3rd world has come to ask for food, or something along those lines. The point is Russia always had India's back in our worst times. And USA always supported Pakistan against India. So Russia has an immense amount of goodwill. We don't backstab our friends.

You forget that maintaining peace and security is only one of the many purposes of the UN. There are all the developmental projects, multilateral information sharing systems and multilateral communication that can only occur in a forum and resource like the UN. And moreover, virtue signalling is important for countries as nations do look at popular opinion in the UN when making foreign policy decisions, especially when their relations with certain blocs within it could be jeopardised by un thought through actions

For India, the timeline says itself. 1971, US, UK sent their Navy to destroy India when under military dictatorship Pakistan committed atrocities on Bengali speaking east Pakistan, bombed several airfields in India, leading to war. In 1998, Ukraine, US condemned India's Second successful nuclear test, when they already helped Pak get Nuclear war heads. From 1947, the US,the USSR has been neutral in Kashmir dispute. Let's see who helped/support India more, US or Soviet/Russia. Honestly, India is abstaining means they are neutral. India envoys day in, day out asked for end of war.
