We shipped Relocube San Diego Denver in 2013, worked great. Now reserved three cubes April 2023 San Diego to Bradenton Florida. Didn't know the A stood for Arkansas!

I looked into Upack, PODS, moving companies, shipping containers and Uhaul. Luckily I have a son that is willing to load up my stuff from storage and drive a Uhaul from Colorado to Alaska! I miss my stuff! Hopefully sometime this year! Thank you for showing this process though. Wish I found this video back when I was researching! 😁

I'm planning on using U-Pack for part 2 of the move up north as well. As with everything else in my life, everything is firmly planted in mid-air!! 🤣🤣🤣 so now everything is happening at 1 time, rather than a May/June trip and a September trip. It's all happening over May/June. So I got another U-Pack quote and date locked in. Now I just have to keep from pissing off Cameron and his buddies as I need young muscle to load the trailer!! Unloading is easier... gravity!!! LOL!!! If I time it right again, the trailer and I will get there about the same time. I told Jim, and need to let Sean know, that I'm going to need immediate help getting the Shelter Logic set up! I've got to get all the junk and crap out of the shipping container so I can have shelter for me and the kids... (dogs)... It'll be a challenge, but boredom is my greatest enemy so I thrive on challenge and change anyway... LOL Are you going to be on Sean's live broadcast this afternoon (Sunday) at 3PM AK time???
@AloneinRemoteAlaska2 жыл бұрын
I'd really like to see what you can put in the Upack pods. I was leaning towards using them but they were kind of iffy about the drop off out where I am located. But I know what you mean about the son. My son is driving a Uhaul to me and staying with me for a while so I don't want to mess that up either! 🤣 I have yet to experience any boredom here. The KZbin channel usually takes up all of my free time but I have enough time to relax a bit and watch some other channels like yours and Jim's. No live streams for me though. I just don't have enough time that. I have watched Sean's live streams a day or two later and it looks like you all have a great time! 😁

It says dallas to anchorage is 3900 miles, just wondering how much 11ft for that distance cost? unless i missed it in the video?
@billwilson1916 Жыл бұрын
Good morning Brad! 3900 miles sounds about right, since it was 4400 from here north of San Antonio to Kenai, AK. Their pricing structure varies constantly. Their base charge for the first 5 feet is $5000. When I did the first shipment it was about $900 for each additional foot. When I did the 2nd shipment last summer it was about $1000 per additional foot. Fuel prices were much higher last summer than the summer before. It also depends on when you make a reservation. I usually reserve a trailer about 4 months, or more, out from when I want it to leave here. One time I tried to book one that was within a month, and the cost was a LOT higher, so I didn't ship anything that time.

That heavy bulkhead fell on my Mom 15 minutes after the trailer arrived...She's severely bruised from it, but thankfully she'll be okay. 😐
@thelonemoose47182 жыл бұрын
WOW!! I'm really sorry your mom got hit with that bulkhead. Yes, they are heavy, and yes they are a 2 person job to install and remove. Both times I've used U-Pack now I've had the driver picking up the trailer in TX help me get the bulkhead installed. I have also had to deal with avalanches when the bulkhead is removed. If you use them again make sure to remember to ask the driver delivering the trailer to the final destination to lower the trailer as much as possible before they disconnect the truck. It wasn't nearly as bad the second time with that little trick.
@stormtrooper48293 жыл бұрын
That is awesome, how much ft did you end up using and for how many rooms?
@billwilson19163 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Trooper!! I originally budgeted using 15' but only used 11'. The trailer is basically 8' wide X9' high internally. I really can't tell you how many rooms as I wasn't shipping a house per se. I had been purchasing items new down here in TX to ship up to Alaska for my retirement home. I was buying things that typically are very hard to come by up there as a lot of companies will not ship to Alaska. I think I had 4 or 5 smokers, large garage style shelters, giant bathtub, clothes, tools and building supplies. I will probably do another YouPack shipment in the spring of 2022 and that one will include my household items and furniture going up north to the retirement location. I know this really didn't answer your question, I apologize.... Bill
@stormtrooper48293 жыл бұрын
@@billwilson1916 wow! no need to apologize thats really helpful, were you able to lock the cargo truck with your own lock? and were you able to leave the lock on there the whole time?
@billwilson19163 жыл бұрын
@@stormtrooper4829 The way this works is that you are provided a wooded bulkhead made of 1/2' plywood that you install in the trailer once you finish loading it up. The slats in the trailer sides where the bulkhead mounts are in 2 foot intervals. As I said before you pay a flat fee for the first 5' of the trailer, then you pay a per/foot additional fee for every additional foot you use... or in reality for every extra 2 feet for the bulkhead. Let's say you actually had 10' of stuff in the trailer. The bulkhead is installed at the 11' mark because that's the next available column of slats where it can be mounted, so you would be filled for 11' total. Just something to keep in mind. Back to the bulkhead, yes, you can use your own locks to secure it in place once the bulkhead is in place. I will warn you though that the holes where the locks can be placed are small. If I remember correctly the shank of the lock has to be 1/4" in diameter or less. It should also have at least a 2" wide gap from the inside top of the lock to the lock body. Master makes a lock set like that, and I bought a pair that were keyed alike so I only had to worry about keeping up with one key. You put one lock on the top locking bar of the bulkhead and one lock on the bottom locking bar of the bulkhead. Then yes sir, those locks stay in place during the entire trip to wherever it's going. I used 11' of my trailer and it went from here to Dallas, to Salt Lake City, to Boise, to Seattle. Along the way additional commercial freight is added into the trailer, and possibly off-loaded along the way. Whatever was left, in my case, was then barged from Seattle to Anchorage, where everything but my stuff was off-loaded. The trailer was then taken to Soldotna, AK and they called me to arrange delivery. When we opened up the back of the trailer, my locks were still in place. I unlocked them, removed the bulkhead and my buddy Jim and I unloaded everything in about 8 hours. Now, if you used the whole trailer, could you use your own lock on the exterior door of the trailer??? I do not know, you'd have to ask ABF/You-Pack about that. I couldn't since I didn't fill the whole trailer and they had to have access at the other stops along the way. I know that's a long drawn out response, but I think that asks everything you asked, and maybe thought about. Stay safe my friend!! Bill

Its 1/25/2022. I am still waiting on my Relocube from 1/10/2022. I ask for 3 day expedited service. They will assigned a moving specialist to your shipment to give you updates on where your shipment is as if you don't know already through the tracker. They don't give you any reason why its delayed. They don't care. They just keep apologizing over and over and over again. Giving you updates on where your shipment is does not change the fact they never give you a proper reason why the service you paid for wasn''t properly executed. # pathetic

Man, I am so sorry to hear that you're having such problems!! My experience went smooth as glass, but I had the full 28' trailer delivered, not the ReloCubes. I'm not making excuses for them by any stretch of the imagination, but do you think it might be weather related (I don't know where you are located)??? Are you able to talk to a human, or are you just getting email conversations with them?

How much for the first 5 feet? $801 per extra foot, Seriously, that's Steep
@thelonemoose4718 Жыл бұрын
Hi Melanie!! It varies, depending on where the shipment is going, when it is going, and how far in advance you make a reservation. As an average for the 2 shipments I did, the first 5' feet averaged over $5000. However, keep in mind that my shipment was going 4400 miles from south Texas to Alaska. My best advice would be to log in to their website and go through the reservation process. At the end you will get a quote for the first 5', and a fee per foot thereafter.
@Large011 Жыл бұрын
@@thelonemoose4718 Hey Appreciate the reply. While watching your video I was curious of the first 5 feet price and when you said 800 per foot I was blown away but Yes there are many variables to consider. I'm just trying to get a rough estimate on distance. Hope your well in Alaska.
