Huge Product for you guys Behringer! Many have been talking and chattering about the power this unit will encompass. However, many others have been deterred from purchasing this unit due to an oddity in advertising. I'm not sure whether it was a marketing tactic to advertise without primary shipment of the unit to main distributors, or just a delay in production. The potential millions that were to be made have dwindled since the release of the product at NAMM for that reason. Fortunately this product looks like a workhorse, and seems to be built with quality components, witch is why I am excited for the shipment of this product as I am eagerly awaiting for SweetWater to receive one. The Sooner the better!

Can you live monitor the inputs from the ADA 8200 through this device?
@stefanthebass8 жыл бұрын
Hi Behringer-guys! So glad I finally got my unit yesterday! Unpacking, connecting and "bam!" working! I like that! When I opened my Reaper DAW I could instantly do my first recordings. Perfect! But fiddeling around with it some question on the real-time monitoring and ASIO driver settings appeared: What I like to do is to a live recording of my band using the UMC1820 and a ADA8000. Doing so, I like to use the device to create a headphone mix for us. I like to use the latency-free real time mixing for that as we do not like latency. With my old ALESIS unit (firewire IO26) there was a real-time mixing program on my PC and I had the possibility to configure multiple "real" real-time mixes, adjusting the levels and the stereo location (left, right, center) of all inputs including the ADAT inputs. Now with the UMC1820 I am a bit confused: On the one hand we have the quickstart guide and from that I read that only the inputs on the device itself go to the monitoring section. No ADAT monitoring? What is the volume of each channel, where to configure? Stereo location? When I tried it out channel 1 would be always be on the left (for me this is not useful, as I don't have stereo signals) or using "mono" in the middle, but a mono mix is also not sufficient for me. So where is the mixer? What can I do with it? Regarding the ASIO driver: on my search for the real-time mixer I found a tab "volume" with inputs and outputs in the UMC Audio Control Panel. But so far I could not figure out what it is for. Can you give me a hint? Does this have something to do with real-time mixing? And the final question: is there any kind of "real" manual available for the unit? The quick start is a bit brief... Best regards and rock on! Stefan

Does the direct monitoring play in both headphones, or just one? I have the UMC202, and the direct monitoring will only play out of the side the input is plugged into (input 1 is left and input 2 is right, so you only get it in one ear)

Question: Is the direct monitoring always on? Is there a way to turn it off? IE: I plug a guitar into input one and want to play trough something like Bias Amp2. In that case, I would nee direct monitoring off to get rid of the di guitar sound. Thankyou!

Hi Behringer. I would like to bay two UMC1820 audio interfaces and combine them for a total 16ins and 16 outs. I am using Windows 10, and my DAW of choice is Reaper. My question is, are they going to be synced and clocked with each other? I also plan to add two Behringer ADA8200 to, for a total of 32 ins-32 outs rig. Is it possible to make this rig work in synch together ? Thanks . Sorry on my bad English.

Can I connect 2 of these via adat for 16 total channels? the ada1820 isn't in stock anywhere in Canada so I figured if I get 2 umc1820s it would basically be the same thing. I read in some forums that it doesn't work. XR18 is also out of stock everywhere.

i want to expand , what do you recommend ,the umc1820 or the ada8200? i know there both midas pre amps, just wondering which one is better
@behringer8 жыл бұрын
+Eric Aguilar The quality build on both is excellent, so in that both are excellent choices. But it depends on what you are trying to achieve, where the UMC1820 is a complete standalone audio interface and the ADA8200 is a high quality A/D/A Mic preamp converter allowing you to easily add 8 Midas Mic Pre's to your current setup. The best part is that both can be actually be combined together via ADAT Lightpipe to give you 16 Midas Mic Pre's at an unbeatable price point. If you are looking for an 8 channel Audio interface we recommend the UMC1820, if you want to add 8 Channels of Midas Mic Pre's to an existing Audio Interface in your setup then we recommend you go for the ADA8200.

how do I make it so I can disable monitoring directly from the interface and only hear the computer input whilst still recording (strange request I know)
@behringer7 жыл бұрын
It's possible to select what signals you want to monitor from within your DAW recording software and then ultimately just route them to any of the LINE OUTPUTS on the back of the UMC1820. Hope this helps!

Over windows, in VLC or another directshow compatible software, I see it as 8 independent microphones?
@behringer8 жыл бұрын
That's correct, each physical channel input should show up as an independant channel within your DAW recording software.

The UMC1820 does require the AC Adaptor to work and will not be able to be powered via the USB port.

QSt, How can I connect 2- umc 1820 to have 16 channels directed to may DAW?
@couchcamperTM4 жыл бұрын
you shouldn't, instead get the ADAT device from Behringer, connect it to the UMC via optical, this will give you 8 more inputs at once without hassle

Could anyone explain ho i can do loopback recording? I love sampling from youtube and other into maschine or reason or ableton. I thoufht this was possible, i read this in one of sweetwater comments "Supports multi-client audio. It operates seamlessly with multiple applications at the same time. This allows you to loopback audio (from the duplicate 1/2 outputs) into another application. Great for ripping music for your audio productions or practice." Could anyone explain how to do this? Thx a lot :)

can i connect this with the xr18?
@behringer8 жыл бұрын
While these two products aren't designed to work together (designed as standalone units), you could run signal from the outputs of one to the inputs of the other. However, the X AIR XR18 already has a bi-directional USB Audio Interface built in so we're not sure what benefits would be gained by trying to connect them together.
@kevin307834 жыл бұрын
@@behringer Well, we have an electronic drumset, connect to a laptop via usb to run toontrack ez drummer. So this could be used as an audio interface on that laptop, only to use its outputs to send the different drum mics from ez drummer to the XR18, no? (The xr18 is already usb connected to another laptop to run ableton and record)

Why don't you make a 192Khz version of this using USB 3.0? And can you record 18 channels simultaneously with this one??
@behringer8 жыл бұрын
+Guido Jansen Yes you can record 18 ch simultaneously. As for your other question stay tuned for future product announcements from Behringer. :)
@guidojansen32528 жыл бұрын
+BEHRINGER Thank you for the quick answer. :-) I meant; can you record all channels simultaneously on seperate tracks in your recording program (like Cubase), or is there a limit? I really look forward to this device, but it takes a long time for it to get out. :( Is the UMC1820 still in a test phase? Another question: do you recommend using the Behringer DI 800 in combination with the UMC1820 for all the line signals? Or don't you need an DI?
@behringer8 жыл бұрын
+Guido Jansen Yes indeed it can. :) IT's a full 18/20 Audio Interface. Channels 1-8 are the Mic/Line Inputs, 9-10 are on SDIF, and 11-18 are ADAT inputs. All can be recorded simultaneously and assigned to individual channels within your DAW recording software. Using the DI800 to convert line level signals to Mic level is a great option, but not necessarily needed for the 8 XLR / 1/4" Combo Inputs. You can plug line level signals right into those inputs and be up and running quickly and easily. There's even a Line/Inst switch to be able to accept a direct connection right from your instrument level signals. (Guitar, Bass etc)

Because the UMC1820 is Core Audio Compliant you won't need to download or install any drivers when using this audio interface with your Mac PC. Please check page 23 of the Quick Start Guide for more information on support with different Mac Operating Systems: media.music-group.com/media/PLM/data/docs/P0B2J/UMC1820_QSG_WW.pdf
