I recently bought a 2024 model year car. The dealer wanted rid of it and had discounted the price. I used that as the starting point to drive an even better deal since he was motivated to sell. Then, once a price had been agreed upon, rather than using my money, I took advantage of the manufacturers' 0% down, 0% interest for 60 months. As we go forward, when it comes to that car I needn't worry about inflation or hyper inflation, or interest rates. I will be paying for that car at a fixed rate using deflating dollars that are well within my means. The car itself should get us through the coming depression without needing replacement. Parallel to that I have recently paid cash to make home improvements that we can enjoy now and that will provide a good ROI should we decide to sell. So ya, make smart choices. Hoarding cash may not be one.

France launched a 'new' franc' which ran alongside their old franc on a fixed ratio. Eventually they became the first adopters of the Euro. When the Euro tanks, the Euro adopters will probably go back to their previous currencies and might even have a joint 1 - 1 ratio backed by a fixed ratio of gold AND silver. I think a fixed ratio of silver to gold within the currencies could eliminate manipulation in the paper markets.

It was around late 1979 or early 1980 when the Hunt Brothers created a frenzy in the silver market, culminating in a high price of almost $50 per ounce. I was only 20 years old at the time. I remember little old ladies lining up to cash in their silver flatware and tea sets right at the market high. They were perhaps the most unsophisticated bullion sellers you could ever meet. Turns out they made a killing.
