There will never be a man made bird as beautiful as the 757, and with rather subdued colors this executive US Govt model looks incredible. I'd love to find a poster size image of the C-32. Next time I visit the Pima Air Museum I'll see if they can help me, they seem to have the largest collection of NASA mission patches, models, posters than anywhere I've been. If the 757 were to be new today the engine fans would be 18" to 24" larger.and throw off the lines. Magnifico

Actually, though the First Lady may have had input, the design was the creation of famed industrial designer Raymond Loewy.

That's a very cool catch, impressive to see this C-32A flying in this snowstorm. Nice footage!

I love the sound of the PW engines reminds me of working on the ramp for Delta turning 757’s all day. After the merge with NEW we had 150 of them some 84/85 vintage. And acquired the last 3 built

That's pretty badass landing in the middle of a snowstorm. I guess if you're U.S. defense secretary, you have that prerogative...

I guess the VP wasn't onboard? I heard the call sign was SAM something instead of Air Force Two.

Cool video Mark, thanks. While Ottowa is outside the border of the United States, it is not overseas. I believe the Secretary of Defense ordinarily flies on the Boeing E-4, a highly modified 747, when traveling overseas.
@davidhoffman12786 жыл бұрын
No. The E-4s are staffed by senior flag officers, specialized field grade officers, and NCOs. The DoD secretary or individual service secretaries normally use one of the newer Gulfstreams or Boeing 737s. The Gulfstreams or B737s need much less ground support and can access more airports than the 747s. In the future I believe we will also see the use of non-tanker versions of the new B767 tanker.

I don't see any evidence of de-icing on the wings. If I was driving this beauty on such a wicked weather day, my wings would be a solid pink.
@bobbypaluga43466 жыл бұрын
G H I can't imagine that would not be the case, I'm a little surprised I was unable to clearly see it's evidence. They use a centralized deicing station at Ottawa parallel with 14-32 as well as mobile units. On second look at 2:53 you can see the glycol being sprayed by a couple of trucks

Air Force Two?
@ytzpilot6 жыл бұрын
Air Force Two is the designated radio call sign for any US Air Force aircraft carrying the Vice President. If the Vice President is on a Commercial Aircraft the call sign is Executive 2. This aircraft was not carrying the VP therefore its call sign/Flight Number was SAM 875. If the President was on that Aircraft or any other Air Force Aircraft it's radio call sign would be Air Force One regardless of aircraft type. If the President is on a Commercial Airliner it is called Executive One (Nixon flew on United Airlines once). See how that works?

@@ytzpilot , IF only the news media would finally understand and use that information properly.
@ericgirardet18486 жыл бұрын
Is that call sign comes from Uncle SAM?
@davidhoffman12786 жыл бұрын
@@ericgirardet1848 , No, it stands for Special Airlift Mission. Basically USAF transportation for: President, Vice-President, Cabinet Secretaries, Speaker of the USofA Congressional House of Representatives, President of the USofA Congressional Senate, US Ambasssadors to other nations, Military Chief Of Staff of the DoD, Secretaries of the USofA Army, Navy, and Air Force, and a few others. These individuals are catagorized as VVIPs(Very, Very, Important Persons) in the USofA Federal Government and thus are allowed to request SAM support. SAM support is NOT automatically given for all members of the group. Individual military service VVIP airlift transportation assets may have to be used for for DoD requests. The US Navy may have to do the transportation for US Navy or Marine Corps civilian or military VVIPs if USAF SAM assets are not availble. US Congressional members may have to fly commercial airlines or use special leased aircraft under special arrangements. Basically executive branch missions are supported first by USAF SAM and the DoD's individual services are expected to handle their own VVIP transportation, if SAM is unavailable. There are special airlift support arrangements for the judges of the Supreme Court of the USofA and other USofA Federal Government courts. I believe those are handled by the USofA Marshals Service with backup provided by other agencies.

QUOTE: Other sources, including the late aviation writer Robert Dorr, claim the C-20Cs also follow the Secretary of Defense when he leaves the nation's capital and are known as SENEX, or senior executive planes. The President and the Secretary of Defense, as Dorr explained in his 2002 book Air Force One, are the only two individuals in the U.S. government who can authorize the use of nuclear weapons. Dorr also claimed the aircraft also have either AN/APR-17 radar warning receivers or HAVE SIREN infrared-guided missile countermeasures systems (or possibly both), and satellite and high frequency radio communications antennas.
