Economic migration is problem indeed. Most aren't fleeing persecution, they are looking for money.

Exactly. Same thing is happening all over Europe. They come for free handouts & our corrupt politicians are allowing it. All infrastructure is collapsing because it just cannot deal with the huge influx of immigrants.

If everyone crossed the border illegally just for a better job, the US would grow exponentially and unsustainably by billions! That's why it's ILLEGAL. Do it right or go back.

There are always 2 and sometimes more sides to every story but I think the one question I heard was WHY ARE WE ALLOWING THIS? Great question.

My parents came the right way,and legal way from Europe. They filed their forms and waited for a series of interviews at the embassy, then waited and filed more forms until they received permission to come to America via international flight with documents. Five years later they could then apply for US citizenship and pass another interview and citizenship exam. My parents came to America the right way.

That's great and all. My family was 50/50. My father came here as a worker many times over 10 years and was not afforded the opportunity. Once we were brought here (my sis at 5 and me a 2 years old) he did not leave and worked his ass off, paid taxes, never collected, we struggled all of my youth, I worked from 12-18 in the orchards being paid under the table per apple bin and cherry baskets along with my mother and father. Finally in 2000 they gave my father and mother residency, and in 2003 he was given citizenship. Why did they come illegally initially like so many south of the border? Well because they couldn't make the money to pay the fees working in their country. To raise 5-10k in a country that pays you 100-250 a week, would take you forever to save up 5-10k while still raising your family. This is why I turned down a job with USBP and would love to help change the laws to help streamline people in "the right way". Our system is outdated and needs an overhaul. Europe is far more developed then Latin Countries that have been driven to debt by the western countries.

My inlaws tried to come from England, for decades, even had relatives here in the states. They were always on a waiting list... Ended up eventually dying in England because of the quotas.

I hope it covers the orgin and asks "why" they are attempting these journeys. Risking life, making deals with criminals, all for what?

The right way? The hard way? People say this out of ignorance I really don't know what else to say. Try not knowing how to count, read or write and essentially living in a country where if you're born poor you die poor and if you try and make change you are straight up murdered. I'm illegal my parents brought me to America across the desert when I was 3. In Mexico my mother grew up in what is essentially a shed. They risked our lives to come to this country we had no other way. How can you afford an attorney to file paperwork when you make less than a dollar per day? The wealth gap in America is nothing compared to Mexico. People say things like do it the legal way as if these people know how to read and write much less afford the legal way. My family came here literally with nothing not even speaking the language. 28 years later I got my parents a home and land so now all they worry about is utilities. I have built a business and so has my father. This is the American dream we worked and risked our lives for and to be told that we did it the easy is messed up I've lost family who never finished the journey here. I don't know the answer to the border but Jason at first glance seems to be right about something. Closing the border completely so there is no hope that will inspire people to make that dangerous journey. My heart is torn on this matter and I don't know the answer because if I were in their shoes I would do the same. It's easy to sit here and judge them when we grew up a life of privilege knowing how to read and write having access to the legal way by means of money or education. There is so much to this topic. I'm sorry about my messed writing skills. I never paid much attention in school. If you have a question or care to argue with me please comment I'd love to know your point of view.

I understand your message, so it is not that messed up... life is never fair, and everyone just want to have a better life for themselves and their family... mostly, a better life for the kids... Sadly, the reality is politics causes most the issue since winning elections comes at a price of the common people...

Words that must be spoken, the truth that must be revealed. The hypocrisy and double standards, corruption and organized crime and the cynicism of the cartels and the economic institutions -the narrative and the material reality do not meet, not even close. I am surprised to see Jason's serious take on the subject. He's been touched, he could not remain silent. I hope he manages to initiate change. My respect.

Jason - without Safe routes and a fair system people die and this is not just the United States but the United Kingdom as right wing media and politicians has continued the hatred towards immigrants for political gain - people who are refugees seeking asylum, who need protection - of course people want to come to our countries to work. America was built on immigration! The UK also is a multicultural society- humanity is the most important thing which these politicians have forgotten ❤

I know this is a very short trailer, so not enough time to show everything. But it gives the impression that the documentary leans towards the plight of the immigrants and doesn’t give equal time to the detrimental effects of millions pouring over our border. We shall see.

This is hard topic BUT yes you need tight borders. Not cos you want to make people to suffer BUT to keep your people safe. Also to make it clear you need to go trough proper channels to ask assylym. Not to risk your life and try to make your way under criminals. I know life isnt easy and fair everywhere and US looks like candy land. But yet you need to secure US peoples lives. Then help the other contries people by aid and "know how" help. There is no other way. We did it wrong in the europe and now its like war zone all over the european big cities.

I always wondered why we keep people away from their own land... Why can't we just let them get back to what was theirs in the first place?
