In his final appearance before the House Armed Services Committee on March 20, 2024, Navy Admiral John Aquilino repeatedly referenced the need to 'speed up' the U.S. defense effort in the Indo-Pacific, with China's military expanding on a 'scale not seen since WWII,' and growing cooperation between China, Russia and Iran setting up a new 'axis of evil.' @@alfred-vz8ti I won't deny the disgusting special interest in DC or the top 5 contractors constantly price gouging. The truth is weapons were always going to get more expensive as tech improved but another issue is a lack of competition and/or different ideas. That is why drones should have been top priority years ago. You get what you pay for, weapons in the US are expensive but also the best in some categories. Still, I agree is it too expensive for the limited funds to do what it used to.

To me the US military is beyond well funded. Besides that China is already out maneuvered through our alliances in the Pacific. This is the Navy pushing to gain MORE funding. Agitating an already acquiescent congress which will automatically approve any funding request they make, as has been the case for my entire lifetime. So this is all ultimately theater setting the stage for the justification of yet another conflict.

Four steps to US naval supremacy: U.S.A needs to reactivate it's reserve fleet (mothball fleet) sooner rather than later. Step 2: upgrade the reserve fleet. Step 3: deploy elements of upgraded fleet to "non strategic" areas (areas of low hostility with a near peer). Step 4: redeploy modern warships or cruisers to strategic and critical areas.

the only right step is to abandon ideas of superiority, since this smells very bad of world dictatorship, and return to dialogue again through the UN The United States, through its policies, is quickly leading the world to a world war.

Two questions:- 1.) Whither the manpower (or do you Americans prefer _people_ power now, for virtue signalling sake?) 2.) Can your reserve fleet take on the Houthi threat? Because, like you said, areas without a near peer adversary is where you'll place your reserve fleet at. And that region has no near peer adversary to the USA. Yet.

The production of military weapons has slowed down considerably after China imposed export controls of rare earth minerals. For example, one F-35 needs 950 pounds of rare earth elements, each Arleigh Burke destroyer needs 5200 pounds, and a Virginia class submarine needs a staggering of 9200 pounds of rare earth minerals. China has the advantages here.

Can we be more integrated with other NATO armies and reduce US Army numbers correspondingly using the savings to boost the other branches' budgets? Rather than "charge" NATO countries (Trump,) require X number of soldiers instead - require armies.) The strategic implication would be that if a NATO member was invaded, an army would already be in theatre. And the US has less personnel to deploy during the war. It could be called the BYOA plan. Bring Your Own Army. And there probably would be peacetime savings with this plan as well. I'm an armchair quarterback, with zero military experience, but it seems logical. And sometimes it is advantageous to be outside the box regarding ideas IMO. And if there was a WWIII, we could start drafting soldiers just like we did in WWII. In terms of our own borders, which army could enter the US to begin with? (None of the above.)

@Rob-iz6nm 60,000 ships? lol china only has 400+ at the moment, this aint hearts of iron4, and incase you are forgetting, you have to factor the stability of china as well. It is easy to say to mobilize all the men and add more conscripts and force recruits, IF they are willing to cooperate. There will be rebellion, specially the moment stability goes down. And now adays, stability is fragile not just economically, but by morale or faith in one's country. ALSO considering the detrimental disadvantage of war to china, more investors pulling out, banning certain raw material trade to china again. China will also have to amass fuel, LOTS of fuel, if those ''60,000'' ships were to be real, and i dont even think the entire world's stock of fuel/oil can keep those running for more than a month, 60,000 ships will turn into 60000 coral reefs, goodluck
@rapfaelezio6282
@rapfaelezio6282 Ай бұрын
@Rob-iz6nm amount of ships are not my problem. if you are japanese you'd know the problem imperial japan had back in Worldwar 2 is lack of fuel, and 60,000 ships gona need more barrels of oil than the entire world can offer. If world war 3 breaks out, only supplier of fuel for china would be russia. And russia cant spare all of their fuel either. Since they gona probably be at war in europe. So even IF they build 60,000 ships, where they gona get all the fuel to operate ALL of them at a short amount of time. . War aint just all about the weapons, weapons need a source of power to operate, both factors are crucial

The video shows China with machine guns, and we have nuclear subs and cruise missiles.... what are we worried about? Our military budget dwarfs (842 billion) anyone on the planet by multiples (china's military budget is only 230 billion), and yet we want more. Given the national debt situation ... we can't justify the waste.

USA is only playing nice for now because it wants to coopt us Indians in the fight against China. Which does work out well with what we have planned. But remember that this is a temporary alignment. And when the honeymoon period ends, Muricans will come after us Indians with pitchforks for the sole reason that we are the ONLY other nation other than China that have the latent potential to match or exceed USA's geopolitical might.

@CandyCane-th2zk The word India is from the Greek word Indica. Megasthenes of Greece wrote a book with this title 2400-2300 years ago. India's own languages has words for India (Bharatvarsh, Aryavrat, Jambudweep) that predate this Greek work by millennia. Your claim that "British gave India to Indians" holds no water.

But I would point out how the Pentagon wastes a lot of money and effort in failed weapons systems, aircraft and ships! A few multibillion dollar examples of failure, 1. F35 2. Zumwalt destroyers 3. Littoral Combat Ship 4. RAH66 Comanche attack helicopter 5. Naval Railgun for Destroyers Need I go on?
@BravoCheesecake
@BravoCheesecake Ай бұрын
1. F-35 is one of the most successful fighters in history. Sure it took a while to get it right but over 1,000 have been built. 2. Zumwalts are being re-purposed to launch hyper sonic missiles. Sure the overall program was a failure but the technology developed is being used on current and future platforms. Integrated composite masts, stealth configurations/coatings and the MK-57 VLS cells, etc. 3. LCS, while a failure on the surface, the navy has a bunch of them. If properly configured they can take a lot of the weight off of Arleigh-Burkes shoulders. This is what they were originally designed for anyways. And the navy is testing putting Mk-41 and DEW on them. 4. Comanche was cool but let's be real the Army is going to be using the AH-64 for a very long time lol 5. Railguns are useless. We has success in development but quickly learned that it was not worth the cost.

@@BravoCheesecake 1.F35- Imho when you have to replace and rebuild an engine practically after every flight I wouldn’t call it a success story 2. Why did it take three platforms for what was in essence a test bed vessel? 3. Point taken but here agin it require further investment to do so and the Navy sees no use in them hence their announcement of retirement 4 you just made my point the AH-64 isn’t any where new it ultimate upgrade version hence still a long service life ahead, why spend the money in the first place on the Comanche? 5 my only point here is even after the investment made we reall still can’t make them work more that a few times without replacing the rails.

Repost (i wont be silenced) we (the west) really need our American friends to massively ramp up production and industrial base etc. As well as all European and other partners. The west and allies must start taking a much tougher stance with Russia and China as well as iran and north Korea and strongly warning them and setting out our red lines etc. They need to have no doubt that a clash with the west will be absolutely devastating for them.

US is in the exact position as pre-WW2 Japan right now: - Industry heavily dependant on the country they want to fight, check - Critical inputs under the control of their opponent (oil vs chips): check - Has a peer level fleet size but only a fraction of their opponents industrial base to support it, check - Delusional about war can be kept short and the other side will seek peace. It's not gonna end well for America.
