Do you use audiobooks in your homeschool? Being made aware of the audio version of A History of Us made it actually get done for us. I am curious, what other shortcuts or cheat codes have you used for keeping up with the homeschool life?

Thanks so much for this video! As a Latino family we value diversity and a lot of these homeschool materials are seriously lacking. We are looking for materials that have true historical events, so this is much appreciated!

I totally agree! You would think in today's climate that diversity would be easier to come by. Thankfully, many curriculum writers are filling the void. Sadly, many are also cowtowing to those who would have us further whitewash history. 🤷♀️

I'm a History Quest fan through and through! My hack for using it is to take it slow. We are finishing up Ancient times now (started it with her in 2021) and will start Middle Times in about a month. We do all the hands on things we can. She loves trying to recipes and making all the crafts. So I just go as slowly as she wants. Our state standards don't require history yet, so we take advantage while we can 😊

We looove using audiobooks in our homeschool. I have used the HQ Early and Middle times audiobooks along with the student guides. I purchased HQ US when it came out but the audiobook wasn't available yet. I'm planning on buying it when it goes on sale for Black Friday.

We are using The Story of the World activity book as a guidebook, I like to pick out books that are at my kids reading level so they can read it themselves. Some of the series we like are Whohq, Cornerstones of Freedom, Crash Course, You wouldn't Want to Be, American Girl history, and Girls Survive. Sometimes we use the textbook, if I can't find a book at our library on the specific topic that they would be able to read on their own.

We are using History of US audio book. But slow with rabbit trails. We also do Core Knowledge, which we read. Then all the living books. I read out loud, they read a lone, we listen in the car, all of it. Love reading fiction history to go with when we are learning in the history.

Sooooo on a TPT account OrcaTamer, she has amazing notebooking pages for HO. Anyways I came across a schedule for “Signs and Seasons” and in it she mentions “Calendar Quest, published by Brimwood Press.” I had never heard of this history resource before… 😮 just thought I’d share and hopefully get feedback lol since you are ahead of me in grades 😂❤

We are using The History of the US but we only used the first book last year. (3rd grade) and plan to use 1-2 this year. We will work faster when my daughter is older. We like them. We generally just read the books 1-2 chapters a week. I am buying the books used on Amazon so they don’t break the bank. We also have used the Usborn history book for world history. History is so huge and keeps getting bigger. 😂
