These sorts of things should be a very deliberate process for two reasons; first, it assures that the decision to expel is fully justified by gathering all the facts and information possible. So, I just watched the special session of our Congress trying to deal with passing a resolution to expel Republican House Representative Santos for the list of charges accumulated against him by the House Ethics Committee. Santos claims he can't be removed, because he has not been convicted of any wrong doing, and that the voters must decide. Based on that, the argument in his defense, has been made that the decision to remove him from office must come from the voters in his Congressional district. (That they voted him in, so it's up to them to vote him out.) Well, I take issue with that view presented in parenthesis for this reason: The voters voted in favor of a person that they were LED to believe existed, by lies presented by Santos regarding his own qualifications, lies that he has admitted to in the false fabrication of his qualifications. Therefore, the person that the voters voted for DOES NOT EXIST. They did NOT vote for the existing person named Santos .... in fact they voted for a mythical somebody else, one that they were told with lies, who had a set of qualifications that met their voter approval. Therefore, the voters in that district need not be called upon to vote out Santos, since they never actually voted him in, thus it should be the duty of the House of Representatives to remove the imposter among their ranks, the one named Santos. And with that, I would throw him out and refer the balance of the charges found in their indictment of Santos, to the District Attorney of New York to be considered for criminal investigation and prosecution in the appropriate court(s) of law, depending on the standing of laws breached being Federal, State, Local, or any. Just my opinion, and I'm no lawyer.
