That ‘coloured’ thing is only used in South Africa; and I do not say call yourself black because I know you are biracial; but given South Africa’s history on race relations anything classified as this or that by that government, to me at least, to be stamen with pinch of salt. It was all just their evil ‘divide and conquer’ strategy where they made sure they can suppress natives, for as long as they crash the populace into little splints with their little different tittles. I believe society makes man, and Trevor unlike most ‘coloureds’ of SA is 50% black and 50% white. He knows nothing about the ‘coloured’ way of life and culture because he was raised black by his black mom in a black township of Soweto amongst blacks, and that’s what moulded him into what he is; his accent, languages he speaks, customs and everything else…his entire life has been Xhosa/Sowetan so I don’t think claiming him as ‘coloured’ in the racist South African context makes sense because the question would be what about him is ‘SA coloured’ besides his skin tone??? The guy doesn’t really identify himself as such, he does point out though that in the South African context he is classified as such! The one thing I usually around my ‘coloured’ friends is wait for them to identify themselves as this or that and then I will also identify them as such! I never immediately call a person coloured because it’s uncomfortable for me to choose for someone that has a choice, so as. general rule I don’t call anyone coloured until they call themselves coloured. SA coloureds as you’d know have groups amongst them that call themselves hottentots and since the land issue many claim they’re Khoisan…which of course makes sense, given the history of the country; but also…having lived in Namibia I have had the privilege of meeting actually Khoi people and though they look ‘biracial’ many have no white ancestors. They’re simply just very light in complexion. It goes without saying that even in SA many dumped the Khoisan tag long ago and identified as coloured in order to benefit or survive apartheid. This is not how people like Trevor and Obama came into existence. They are biracial and SA ‘coloureds’ are not necessarily of biracial descent…many of them are, but many amongst them are also just Khoisan with light skins. We saw this during consultations on land redistribution debates! He may look coloured since he is biracial, but the SA ‘coloured’ population as defined by apartheid regime is a bigger mixed bag than simply black and white parents!

@@oneirishpoet Colberts was epic because it was at a time when people were too afraid to speak against the President. Usually most performers are fans of the current President and he wasn’t. He also did it with his character which was not seen before and since then.

When Jon Stewart left, I thought "The Daily Show's ruined." Then Trevor Noah stepped in and, despite all odds, managed to make the show his own. And, while I hated to see him go, I understand how traveling the world and learning from the people he meets is a lot more fulfilling for him then sitting behind a desk.
