This video was filmed inside of Josh's home his wife Gabie is off to the right in their kitchen. Theres another video where they have Armand and Max over to their house for steaks and stuff. That was a really cool/chill video.

Naengmyeon noodles are made from buckwheat flour, which is gluten-free. It's made incredibly thin bc it's so chewy. You just end up chewing it twice and swallowing. The broth can be slightly sweet but many Koreans add vinegar and hot mustard for extra kick. Should be on your bucket list when you go.

to add to this - when you get noodles in packages that aren't wheat based (maruchan, Shin, Buldok) They use Alkaline water which is baked baking soda* with water added to normal pasta flour. Which makes them stretchy.

I absolutely despised it growing up and found out most westerners don't really like it either I definitely don't think it's a korea bucket list food Although I like it now occasionally

@koraegi It's not a Korea bucket list item for you but how can you say that for someone else, especially when there are so many who would disagree with you? Your experience for whatever reason was not that great but it is a great Korean dish that you can not say others shouldn't try.

@ It's a matter of accessibility in the US. The major importers are NK, Russia and China of Buckwheat. Which we have sanctions and tariffs on. For decades. Living in California my whole life I can get it in specialty shops, even japanese ramen places. But that's just how diverse cali is

@orchidmsc i think its mediocre at best and generally a flavor combination to get used to Might as well get something you're guaranteed to like than not Would not believe how many if not all the American customers I served working at a korean restaurant send it back and order something else

Well, the correct ingredients are as follows : Buckwheat noodles, Julienne-cut cucumbers (No French fries), Korean-Style Meatballs, Chopped Kimchi, mixed in sweet, sour & spicy sauce. No Cheese at all.

lol these are not made of the same type of flour. the broth is spicy in flavor but served cold; and after the noodles are cooked; you run them under cold water to stop the cooking process. this is served normally during the summer time as it's super humid/hot in Korea during that time. the fresh veg in it; is great too. I add some hot mustard and vinegar to it. Gabie (Josh's wife) is a chef and she made this. The hot meat that is sometimes served w/ it contrasts the cold noodles/broth and it tastes amazing together. Gotta try it if you can 😀 the noodles are VERY chewy; so you can either cut them w/ the scissors at the table/or take smaller bites. I found it took me a bit to get used to the chewiness; but now I literally have packs of the stuff in my pantry. The brand I use; I put the concentrated broth in the fridge and then dilute it w/ water when I am ready to eat. (broth comes in packets). They also include little packets of hot mustard oil (at least the brand I use does). It's good stuff.

I'm always surprised by people finding cold noodles interesting. I usually see it as a spicy sauced pasta/macaroni salad.

Most wasabi outside of Japan is horseradish with wasabi powder and colour. Noodles are not pasta, noodles Chinese origin and pasta Greek origin(not what we know as pasta, but very close) both was invented about the same time.

we dont have air conditioning in northern europe, because before 2018 we had 3 hot days max in the whole summer. it has changed dramatically with global warming since then. new houses are being built with air conditioning now. ps: we dont have windows that slide up and down, we open them like doors.

You only really need AC in the UK for like 2-3 weeks, its not really worth buying AC for that.

@@jiggacho This is one of the food disagreements that I have with my dad. He loves the dish, but I prefer the mixed/bibin version with zero broth/soup. I want nothing to weaken/dilute the spice.

in uk it'll be like 5°C for the whole year, and then spike up to 40°C for 2 weeks in the summer 😭 we just firm it bc there's no point getting air con for 2 weeks every year .. it's humid and houses are insulated tho so it's not fun!
