I was in the hardware store one day and crappy old mini van rolled up. Six marshals pulled out so quickly and quietly I barely saw them. They instantly subdued a little vato standing 3ft away from and stuffed him in the van without incident. It was AWESOME!

Dude I know the feeling. It kept me from doing any kind of service or LE. I couldn't get my head straight and now I'm too old. Best thing is to try therapy, buddhism has helped me some, or Eckhart Tolle's Power of Now. If not, it wasn't meant to be and have to move on. These organizations can be highly selective and only want the cream of the crop, not all of us are cut out for stuff like this.

My absolute biggest advice is. MAKE SURE you are 1000% sold on becoming a LEO of any nature. If you have the slightest bit of doubt, overtime it will wash you out as your career progresses. This career is NOT for everyone. I heard a quote when I started out. “Everyone loves the idea of being a LEO but not actually doing the job of what is required of a LEO”

There are thousands of LEO applicants currently in the hiring pipeline, might be tough to get on with no LEO experience. Military exp only goes so far now that they don't have to consider preference points.

The academy is really really hard. Hearts are broken when they find out they’re not going to the academy. Most don’t graduate cuz the trainers send them home if they think it’s too hard for you

Keeping your equipment, uniform and everything else clean, don't take anything personally, keep mentally strong, just putting it out there.

I was in the top 5 physically but most of my class was out of shape and struggled physically. Definitely dont take things personal the instructors have a way to make everyone feel like they are useless.

Boot camp and this aren’t very comparable. Boot camp is just a lot of yelling and screaming and moderate exercise/hazing/fuck fuck games. Boot camp I would consider much easier as there are pretty much no pass/fail events. As long as you don’t quit you’re guaranteed to make it through. At FLETC (federal law enforcement training course) there are numerous pass/fail events. Shoot/no shoot scenarios. Basic first aid/trauma rendering. Tests on federal laws, etc. The physicality is much less important at the marshals course, but with the curriculum and pass/fail events I believe it to be more challenging. Also, it depends on your MOS while you were in. Did you do a normal job or were you combat arms/combat support?

consider applying for a civilian position. USMS has investigative analysts that provide support to the DUSMs, for example. You could potentially have an advantage in the hiring process if you qualify under Schedule A hiring authority

It's even higher qualifications if you want to join at the GL-07 level.

You don't need a degree but it makes you more competitive in hiring, since everyone applying pretty much has one. If you're not a vet and are only applying with law enforcement experience, having a degree would be in your favor. There are way too many applicants applying that are vets, with LE experience and a degree, in some cases multiple degrees. So you have to do the math, this is what was told to us at the info session I attended. Be well rounded as an applicant because this job is highly competitive and make sure your resume is up to par. They couldn't stress that enough.

IG statements were done online and got a reply about #2. While at Division Headquarters at Ft Lewis Washington Army base. One retired guy like me told him #2 and #3 he tried to get me escorted to MP Station by the Staff Duty NCOs and left. So I told those only about IG statement #1 with MP talking on other side of phone. MPs said they couldn't do nothing for me. So the NCOs let me go. Before I went to Division Headquarters I went to 1/9 Infantry Headquarters to make a Recon team for California. Stayed on base for 2 months had to get fully vaccinated. Before Ft Lewis Washington I was on the Amtrak train where I found out information about happens to rude passages. Before that a guy poured water in the Diesel tank where I was allowed to stay in my truck from state park camping manager pay for month at a time. Plus truck was parked and I walk to the Store. About the same distance was a Legal state Marijuana new store. I just did all the filters, oils, gear oils, transfer case fluid and transmission on my newer Duramax Diesel. Chevy dealers stuff didn't tell me the increments of a Diesel. Plus with new injectors set used a Army Emergency Relief loan, DPF Filter. Then a guy pours water in fuel tank because I didn't want to hangout. Saw him at O'REILLYs buying HEET because someone just did him and poured water his convertible VW Beetle gas tank.
