That hypothetical was where Biden was a Republican. Again, it was an imagined hypothetical to make a point, that it doesn't matter if there are ideological agreements or not, America is still the priority. As for the point about Israel, I think you are misreading the scenario. For one, loving Israel, as Biden approaches it, is a positive. He has been, rightly, supportive of Israel but critical of Netanyahu (more so in private for obvious reasons). Support for Israel is pretty bipartisan so again, that's another angle you are misinterpreting. And as for the point where even a prime minster found him extreme, you're going to need to source that, because only the lord knows what you are talking about.

The three phases strategy is kind of smart from a military perspective though. First phase, cheap drones used to saturate the Jerusalem airspace. The air defence system will shoot them down easily but the IDF will need to spend its stock of surface-to-air missiles. Second phase are drones coming from closer territories, meaning the IDF will have less time to coordinate the air defence response. Third phase are the expensive mid range missile that are more difficult to intercept, the Iranian army hoping that the Israeli air defence will be saturated by then. However I don't think that Israel will run out of surface-to-air missiles because they have huge stocks (thanks to the US military assistance).

Those aren't "flares" or "tracers". Flares are launched to light up the sky and increase visibility, which they have no need of here; tracers are bullet or cannon rounds to help the ground troops see where they're firing--I doubt the Israelis are using their eyes at night to try to shoot down the drones (impossible with missiles) as they have far more advanced weapons for that. More likely they're Iron Dome type missiles to hit the slow flying drones or perhaps some rockets launched nearby (not from Iran). If Iran launched 100 drones, more or less, and then a few ballistic missiles (say 10 or so), Israel shouldn't have any real problem knocking them all down unless their air defense system suffers a major breakdown (unlikely-they've been prepping for this for a while now) or unless Netanyahu purposely tanks and lets a few get through to give him an excuse to strike back (which he very much wants--it's how he'll get to stay in power, keeping the war going). Iran clearly doesn't want to escalate, but has to retaliate a bit after getting b-slapped with the embassy (its sovereign territory!) bombing. Future events could prove me wrong, but for now this feels like the 21st century social media version of the "phony war"....both sides may be plotting something, but we'll see a lull in between.
